I'm posting this here for all you Jurassic Park fans. There's this great episode of 99% Invisible in which a paleantologist looks at the concept we have of dinosaurs as being action-packed thunder lizards made up of nothing but teeth, bone skin and muscle, and it occurs to him that this is actually highly unlikely. Fat and cartilage do not fossilize; if millions of years pass and a fossil of an elephant is excavated there would be no indication that it ever had what we know as a trunk. Same with a camel, whose humps are not created by skeletal structure. Thought you might enjoy. Welcome to Jurassic Art - 99% Invisible
I actually own and have read The Dinosaur Heresies by Bakker. I'm am a pretty big dinosaur nut. Absolutely obsessed as a child late into my teens. Pondering what they really looked like is fascinating. I had read a similar article before and an artist, I don't think the one here, had also made mock ups of far out ideas of how they could have looked.
