let's look at the top 10 picks used on OL since 2008:

    Jake Long-MIA team still sucks
Jason Smith-STL Team still sucks, guy is a free agent
    Andre Smith- CIN Don't know
    Eugene Monroe-JAX SUCKS
    Russell Okung-SEA team is good
Tyron Smith-DAL sucks, JJ Watt taken a few picks later
    Matt Kalil- MIN- Dunno

There have been no guards taken in first 10 picks since 1997. past 16 years, FOR GOOD REASON. It isn't a single position that makes or breaks a team. They are NOT high value players. PLUS we just picked up Levitre, who has proven he will be decent.

    DON'T DO IT.

In the SB this year 5 of the 10 starting OL were first rnd picks. To me if you have a weakness and need to fix it then whether you take a guy at 10 or take a guy at 25 it doesn't really matter. Part of the reason that we are picking at 10 is how bad our OL was last yr. So to say that we are picking too high to address the major reason that we sucked doesn't make sense.

That being said, this years draft is very deep at interior OL and I think we can get a starter in the 2nd or 3rd rnd. It also is a deep draft for CB and safety 2 other needs of ours.

Yes it does... because the singular guard position does not fix a whole OL. It's not like we were missing that one good QB. (which we were)

We have to accept that it was a coaching/scheme AND personnel problem. Using the (hopefully) highest pick you get in a decade on a OG is not wise, IMO. It in itself is not going to fix the problem. It never does. OL is the most cohesive unit on the field, and it takes 5 solid players. adding one young 1st round pick does not make your OL solid. I don't think you ever throw a 1st round pick at OL unless you are already a solid team. We have holes everywhere on offense and defense. and the position least likely to make an impact would be a center or guard, IMO.

We supposedly have 2 tackles that are 1st round worthy, and they didn't help us do JACK last season blocking. It takes all 5, and you don't have to break the bank to have a decent starting OL.

I'm glad we are at 10. That means it is very likely Cooper is still on the board. Which means he is ours. We were a couple of plays away from being an 8-8 team last year, which would have us around 15-16th pick. I don't care where we are as long as the player we want is on the board when we pick.

With the way that free agency has gone I'm not so sure that we're going OL @ #10. I believe we truly believe we're going BPA outside of QB/RB/P/K. Whoever is the best player with the most value on the board when we pick will be the guy and I'm totally fine with that.

HEY! I quoted more than just ESPN, I just find it weird that evvvvvvvvvvvvery site on the internet has us at #40 when the rule CLEARLY states we should be #39.

I agree with most of what you are saying. The Levitre addition however is great and all but we need 2 guards not 1 so at some point(early) we will add another. I'm all in for Warford round 2.
