    Report: Holt visiting Jags Thursday

<em>Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky</em> <p>Could the Jaguars and Titans be about to play their first game of the 2009 season?</p> <p>Jim Thomas reports free agent receiver <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1757" target="_new">Torry Holt</a> will <a href="http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/around-the-horns/?p=1038" target="_blank">visit</a> with the Jaguars today. The Titans have reportedly expressed interest as well.</p> <p>We don't yet know what kind of deal Holt's expecting or if there are other teams pursuing him.</p> <p>But the Jaguars may be in position to make an exception to their new stance about pricey free agents from the outside. They don't want to operate that way any longer, but are so thin at the spot and <a href="/blogs/afcsouth/0-8-117/Del-Rio-focused-on-getting-weapons-for-Garrard.html" target="_blank">so in need</a> of a prime weapon for quarterback <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3636" target="_new">David Garrard</a>, they might spend more than they initially intended.</p> <p>Jacksonville has added left tackle <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1447" target="_new">Tra Thomas</a> and safety <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8516" target="_new">Sean Considine</a> as free agents.</p> <p>But with <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5534" target="_new">Reggie Williams</a> a free agent they won't try to re-sign, <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8436" target="_new">Matt Jones</a> released after a probation violation and <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2178" target="_new">Jerry Porter</a> dumped after one disastrous year, the Jaguars are quite thin at receiver:</p> <p> <table border="0" face="Verdana" size="1">0</font></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </p> <p>Jacksonville needs Holt more than the Titans do.</p> <p>Tennessee added free agent <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9307" target="_new">Nate Washington</a>, who should upgrade the second starting spot opposite <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4601" target="_new">Justin Gage</a> held by <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2673" target="_new">Justin McCareins</a> last year. Tennessee also has <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11371" target="_new">Lavelle Hawkins</a>, a fourth-rounder last year who they believe has upside. That top three is hardly great, but it's better than any three you can pick off the menu of Jacksonville receivers above.</p> <p>The Jaguars can get a productive leader who most seem to believe still has some good football left in him. If they don't, they may have to defend him twice a year.</p>

I heard Foo Foo had an impressive Pro day. Might be worthy of a 4th round pick.

Good grief.. calm down for now. How many guys visit Tennessee without signing the same day? A visit to the Jets is probably in order as well.
If he wants to win he'll look here. If he only wants money did we really want him anyway?

Why would he want to go to Jacksonville? Jags are horrible, nobody comes to see them play, and they have an overrated quarterback..

Yeah, but Carnival Cruise Lines does have a port terminal in Jacksonville.

Holt will realize it was a mistake when he turns around to see if the ball is in the air and realizes it's still in Garrard's hands, who is on the ground, under a pile of defenders.

Maybe, but if the Jags were willing to put a ton of money into him they would have probably tried to get into the trade mix when they heard we were in. They have gone through a serious purge, and are wanting to rebuild with youth. I don't see them breaking the bank for an aging star veteran with a history of knee problems. They just let Taylor go for essentially that exact reason.
