Titans, right tackle Stewart agree to six-year deal

Yeah, I like Bironas as much as you can like a kicker, but remember where we found this guy - NFL Europe while his other job was working security at Best Buy.
So I'd never pay a great amount for a kicker. We can find a few that can come in and compete. Heck, just a year or so ago Kimrin was supposedly the favorite over Bironas. Where's he now?

Im stoked we got Stewart signed up. Love the mean streak he brings to the field each and every play. He's to our OLine what Albert is to our DLine.

 

Yeah, that's actually why I said that. Ingle was my year at MBA. I remember the one he hit that was over 50. I'm sure he'd be good for some 30 yarders, and we'd just change our strategy a little with a less reliable kicker for long ones.

 

Even after his 62 yard field goal to lock up the Colts' game in '06, there was a position battle at kicker last preseason. I don't remember that kid's name (is it the Kimrin you mentioned???), but he looked good. Someone, and I don't know who, in the Titans' organization has an eye for kickers. Look at the track record. Bironas or no Bironas, I'm not worried about the position.

 

Floyd reese? He's gone now but he was the one who signed nedney and bironas. While i agree there isn't that much difference between an average kicker and a top kicker this is a team that needs a top kicker more than most so i would make a hearty attempt to keep this guy.

 

Bironas wasn't in NFL Europe. He was in the Arena League. Kimrin was the one from Europe.

As for never paying a lot for a kicker, look at how many teams don't have a decent one. A top kicker is worth a lot of money, at least if you have a contender.

 

There was no battle for kicker last year. The Titans always bring in a third P/K for training camp just to keep the normal guys from being overworked.
