Smack Titans Don't Know How To Coach Marcus Mariota

    All I'm saying to the non-possessed is don't blame Mariota, blame those who are responsible for calling the plays/creating sets. Also miscommunication between a QB and receiver rests solely on the shoulders of the coaches. There shouldn't be any communication errors if routes are being properly understood. Not doing your job as a coach is no excuse. Also, Mariota has to be a genius to change the play frequently because the coaches called it wrong, their play calling was wrong. Want to stop a drive? So he has to modify a stupid play, ok? He shouldn't have to do it all the time. If he does, it is bound to mess him up. We'll see if this offensive coordinator is spending his off-time wisely because if he isn't, I would fire him on the spot.

    This is in reply to the poster who claimed that Helfrich was Mariota's coach at Oregon. Read this little tidbit of info. Kelly was Mariota's first coach in 2012. Oregon was ranked #2 in the country. That was Oregon's highest ranking ever.

    2012 season
    Oregon's all-time leading rusher LaMichael James decided to forgo his senior season in 2012 for the NFL and starting quarterback Darron Thomas, with a career starting record of 23–3, surprisingly also decided to leave early for the NFL.

    Led by redshirt freshman Marcus Mariota at quarterback and senior tailback Kenjon Barner, Oregon rolled to ten straight victories before finally falling to #14 Stanford in overtime 17–14 on November 17. Oregon had two opportunities to beat Stanford with a field goal but both attempts failed. Kelly's Ducks would rebound to beat #16 Oregon State in the Civil War for the fifth straight year and play #5 Kansas State in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. The Ducks proved to be too much for Kansas State as they prevailed to a 35–17 victory in Oregon's fourth consecutive year in a BCS bowl game.

    The Ducks finished the season 12–1 (8–1 Pac-12) with a #2 ranking, putting them in the top five of the final season rankings for the third straight season.

    If you don't know what you're talking about please don't respond to my well thought posts. Mariota played for the ducks in 2012 coached by none other than Chip Kelly. The coach that came after Kelly, Helfrich went by Chip Kelly's playbook.

    It was 3rd and 4. A throw into the flat would have done nothing. Bring this guy in as offensive coordinator.

    Now, had Derrick Henry blocked someone Mariota would have had plenty of time to find a receiver beyond the first down marker. Would he have hit him or thrown the ball into the dirt five yards in front of him? We'll never know.

    I think its the other way around, Marcus made Helfrich look good and elevated the offense but once he moved on to the NFL Helfrich couldn't do jack chit. Scrub arse killed the program.
