Titans add former Jets safety Tracy Wilson

    With depth issues at the safety position, the Titans have signed Tracy Wilson, formerly of the Jets.

    Wilson, who played in five games last season, has played free safety and strong safety. He played on special teams last season after being called up from the team’s practice squad.

    “He is pretty versatile,’’ agent Archie Chaney said of Wilson. “The Jets used him at both, and he was doing special teams. This is an awesome opportunity for him to showcase his ability and get on the field.”

    Wilson (6-2, 203) played in college at Northern Illinois.

    The Titans have experience at the position in starters Michael Griffin and Jordan Babineaux. After that, the Titans have third-year safety Robert Johnson and veteran Aaron Francisco. Johnson has played in just three NFL games, however.

    Another safety, sixth-round pick Markelle Martin, is currently on the team’s Physically Unable to Perform list.

    On Wednesday, the Titans also placed center Eugene Amano on Injured Reserve.
