The same thing applies to last season as well. There is a reason Mariota already has 10 4th quarter game-winning drives in his career, which is just three less than Aaron Rodgers has in his career. OCs hand-cuffing the offense and then when they finally open it up, the team is behind and needs to throw the ball to try and win the games.

Were you here last year, when 90% of this forum wanted the coaching staff fired for winning ugly? Just curious.

 

Do you remember a sweep to the short side of the field on 3rd down in the RZ to Sharpe?
How about the random handoffs to DW?

Those are just some of the plays people wanted Mularkey fired for. If I recall, Vrabel was ok making a terrible 4th down run and the entire board wanted him fired (or at least LaFleur) just the same.

If Vrabel (and Lefleur) learned their lesson about handing off to a TE with 0 career carries on 4th down in a close, must have, game, then maybe they don’t have fans crying for their heads. Mularkey didn’t.

 

I agree on the first paragraph, but disagree on the rest. People are saying "A win is a win" or like yourself "take the wins any way you can" despite the offense being a disaster, the defense collapsing over the last couple of games and even the special teams looking bad in the last game.

They scored 26 pats without OT for only the 3 rd time all season. 5 scoring drives.
The second half was solid. Slow start and disappointing defense for the most part but hardly a disaster.
I’ll even argue that wasn’t an ugly win. Jets are not considered a good team, but spotting them 16 and down 10 at half to win is fine.

If there was a bad spot to the game, it truly was ST which is the first game I’ve said that in 2 years after JRob specifically addressed it w/ 47 FA signing s last year for ST.

In comparison to Mularkey, that first paragraph sums up why he shouldn’t be a coach anywhere. And I’ll also remind you that we shouldn’t forget that despite a win in KC, Tennessee should have been playing at home against Buffalo then in Pittsburgh, not NE, but Mularkey couldn’t prepare his team for the weak nfc west.

 

Oh, I see... a Mularkey supporter. That explains it all.

But yes I was here, and he absolutely needed to be fired but it had nothing to do with winning ugly.

I’m glad we looked past all the examples of other teams being inconsistent this year and skipped right back to talking about a coach who was so good he’s still unemployed.

 

LaFleur said the Firkser TD was all Marcus, tbh.

The best OC the guy has had as a pro has been himself. Sadly.
