The Official Chris Johnson Holdout Thread

Discussion in 'Tennessee Titans and NFL Talk' started by 24, Jul 27, 2011.

  1. Pay him top playmaker money.

  2. Make him the highest-paid RB.

  3. Give him an increase to the put him among the top 5 RBs.

  4. Make him honor his current contract or trade him.

I would've loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.

i saw a pretty good article talking about what we should do with CJ.

    it was very simple.

    Look at Fitz's contract
    Compare it to Top WR's
Look at the percentage it went up.
Offer it to CJ - maybe with an extra .5 - 1M annual dependin on what that number would be

I think it would be at least a good point to start.

also, i didnt read this entire thread so maybe someone said this...if so sorry for the repeat.

Anybody know the math on this suggestion?

If the reports are accurate, 12-13 mil with 30 guaranteed seems like a reasonable deal.

Logically, that makes sense. In reality, why would the Titans take ONE contract and assume that it reflects the future value for top players at that position? For example, Haynesworth skewed the numbers of what DTs were getting and, though some DTs are making huge money, nothing has come close in scale to what he received.

If CJ is a free agent, I see him holding out for top playmaker money. I don't see how CJ has much leverage with two years left on his rookie contract and he better take something this weekend or I think we'll see the Titans release the deal they're offering to the media and give CJ an ultimatum.

There may be a decent RB or two who will be released this weekend so don't be surprised to see Reinfeldt put a little extra heat on CJ by bringing one in.

Anything over 10 mill a year and he's raping us.

Titans better stay smart with this and use his idiocy as a way to bargain.

At this point, he's too late to start week 1 anyway.

Though I know they'll get something done and he'll come in- automatically be handed the starting spot and suck balls for 4 weeks trying to get back to playing speed.

It's definitely not too late for him to start week 1. What makes you think that?

you could give your seats to your employees as a bonus yanno :D

yes his comments were directed to all Titan fans including the butt sniffers :grrhee:

I don't buy the racial tweets he said he got..he screwed up with his comment and started doing some damage control or trying to...most people aren't buying that either

That is what I have actually been doing . But boiling down the tax implications, it costs me 50% of the ticket price that I otherwise would have taken home. That comes out to about $5k/year. That's a bit steep for me.

You still just sore (like a hydrophoby dog) he is about to score a BIG payday.

I know some folks were jacking him up about the holdout and I have no reason not to believe that some barbs were perceived to be racist. CJ is a pretty mellow dude otherwise. It's not like he has some pattern of bad behavior.

I commented about some racist comments that were being made last week. Most got deleted off of the PFT article they were attached too. Working now but after work will see if I can find my post about them.
