I just liked the poise he showed with the clock against his back. I know every single Titan fan on this board was seeing a Succop punch in for 3 and going to overtime. Mary did what he needed to do to win, seemingly unaffected by the situation. That is what I noticed. Murray made a fantastic play to seal that game!

Football tends to come down to a coach out-scheming, players out playing, or the odds of certain things messing you up (like running an offense that people think increases the odds at turnovers...or vice versa).

Mularkey is not trying to out coach people, more like put in his scheme that makes sense to attack an expected defense and rely on our superior players to win the day, keep the game close, avoid turnovers, and win it late (again with a superior performance my Mariota)!

Notice we have been getting more success on misdirection plays because people are expecting (rightfully so) for us to run out bread and butter plays which were a lot more productive last year. Both on runs and play action passes we have done a lot better!

So in terms of Mariota’s changing plays...his allowance to do so is limited - unfortunately!

You can’t call the offense exotic smash mouth without doing something fans would think is ‘exotic.’

Seriously, our run game has been very poor and one of the things you do to hide that is run your mobile qb!!! And pray he doesn’t get hurt!

Yea but VY was just a terrible pro qb. You didnt have to look at his stats to know that. Mariota statistically is having a subpar season but i personally dont see a subpar qb on game days. Its not like he is playing bad throughout the entire game until it matters most. I thought he was exceptional against the Bengals minus forcing the ball to Davis a few times.

I think an overlooked strength of Mariota’s is His ability to get the offense into field goal range with limited time before the half. He has done so several times this year. I’m not sure if any of those games were decided by 3 or less, but they are still important points

Wow did you miss the point.

I agreed with you that Mariota wasn't having a great season. Clearly you haven't read that post entirely or many other posts of mine.

My point entirely in that post was that VY was garbage, not defending Mariota.

You just tried to spin Mariota into being like VY because of a late drive victory. They are not really the same and when 2 QBs have 6 and 7 career 4th qtr comebacks, that's not enough to use as a real comparison anyway never mind trying to use the "winner" angle which is not a real attribute.

My guess is you're one of the lingering VY lovers which is why you attempted to turn it around as if I'll defend Mariota no matter what.

In 18 games he threw for 3K, 20:10 or 150 per game with a 1.1 : 0.5 per game. He ran for 400 and 2 TD. He also fumbled 14 times.
The team went 12-6 (he played in 21 games over that time) Not likely Pro bowler at best. He only made in 09' as a substitute selection when the original players either declined or were injured. EDIT: he was the #6 AFC QB behind manning, Brady, rivers, schaub, and Garrard.
