Go Finny! and congrats to big Al too.

It's a shame Bulluck was overlooked for so many years when he was deserving, but I agree he's not quite the top tier anymore - there are some really good LB in the league now.

i wouldn't blame finnegan if he held out for more money. football won't last forever and he's definitely worthy of being paid top dollar.

contracts in football aren't guaranteed and i would hold out for ever penny i could if i were in position for it. what's so negative about that?

What's so negative is that he agreed to a contract less than a year earlier. It's ridiculous to say that it's ok for that to happen. Now, if Finnegan had signed a 7 year extention two seasons ago for significantly less money, than the last couple of years on that contract would probably be less fair. But to say he should be allowed (and approved of by the fans) to hold out after one year is absolutely ridiculous.

It's amazing that we have six players going, every year the number keeps growing. Now TEN is getting some publicity out there. Next year I would love to have 10 guys going, just like the patriots did a year or two back. GO TITANS.

i didn't say i would approve of him holding out, i just said i would understand. there's a difference.

of course i would rather he come to camp and participate to the fullest extent, but there's a business side of things too. the organization won't hesitate to get rid of a player who under performs to get someone better, so why should the player have an undying allegiance to the organization?

Five Titans were voted into the Pro Bowl as alternates: fullback Ahmard Hall, linebacker Keith Bulluck, quarterback Kerry Collins, safety Michael Griffin and kicker Rob Bironas. As alternates they would join the team if a player at their position is injured or decides not to play.

Because it isn't just a business. Organizations will sometimes hesitate to get rid of older underperforming players, the ones that have shown loyalty to the organization that have in return earned the greater support of the fans.

The teams have more power over the players, that's just how it is, and how it should be. Players shouldn't be able to hold out. If they think their value will skyrocket, don't sign long term deals. Finnegan took this into account when he accepted his signing bonus in August. If he'd broken his leg or popped an ACL, he'd be screwed now if he hadn't signed that contract. You sign the contract for the upfront payout in exchange for potential loss of future value if everything goes right for you.

Yeah! Thats why there are never any holdouts in the NFL! In a perfect world your statment would be correct. But players are gonna get their $. If a player sees that they are perforiming the same as other peers getting more money. They are gonna go after it.
