Fitz kind of defines who Titans fans are.

Mostly over-emotional types that can't rationalize anything, so they just go with the herd, whether it hate or support.

This guy is twice the QB Mariota is or ever will be. And that's sad... but true.

 

Fitz is a career backup QB for a reason. He's played outstanding for 2 games, but his history shows that won't last long.

I'm not sure what the future holds for Mariota yet, nor do you. He simply doesn't yet have enough experience for anyone to accurately predict whether he will boom, bust, or fall somewhere in the middle.

I'm reserving my assessment of MM until the end of this season. I think by that time he will have had enough games to show his ability.

Doesnt yet have enough experience? lol How long you gonna give this guy? He still throws off his back foot to wide open DBs. He still misses some of the easiest passes to make... he's not a rookie... and there are rookies playing much better than he seems capable of.

He is what he is.

 

Dare I say, you have a point. For me, I give him this season. If he’s not improving from last season then it’s time to move on.

 

That's my position as well. By the end of this season, he'll have had enough experience for a fair assessment of his abilities.

 

I stated in my earlier response that I am waiting until the end of this season. If he's not killing it by then, it's not likely that he ever will.

 

I feel a lot of people here are to the point where Mariota needs to show something this year. If his year is similar to last, he may still be on the team next year, but there will be a rookie drafted early to compete with him, and then he'll be used as trade bait.

 

Til the end of the season is fair.

I'm just quickly losing hope.

It seems like the McNair/Volek scenario all over. WRs and staff get all the blame for a likable QB being unable to play well. Then... backup comes in and you start to see that those excuses aren't as viable as they seemed.

Granted- Volek came in and was torching teams. Gabbert is doing the bare minimum. But receivers suddenly don't look near as "lost" as they supposedly were.
