    I have to agree with Rolltide on this one. Ayers and English ran almost identical 40s including 10 and 20 yard splits at the combine. English did outshine Ayers in the 3 cone and shuttle which would be a better argument against Ayers. Of course Ayers does weigh almost 20 pounds more.

    Of course I'd argue neither of these guys should be picked by TN in the first. William Hayes compares very favorably and I'm not real sure either guy is an upgrade. Use the pick on another position.

    Anybody who thinks that 99% of the players actually got faster in one month is an idiot.

    Maybe they can keep getting faster and faster by the month until they can run 2 second times by the season.

    Yes...

    Another 'project' we shouldn't take in round 1. But at least he does have good athleticism for his position...and good bloodlines!

    And it's more understandable why Matthews didn't see the field much til he was a senior since they have 4 LB's who will be drafted and 2 of them are likely first or second rnd picks. Ayers had no such competition keeping him from a starting role.

    Who was defensive player of the game at the senior bowl? Robert ayers?

    Yeah but he didn't run a 40 at his pro day so he blows. :rolleyes:

    Clay matthews jr another prospect who shaved a full tenth of a second from his combine 40 at his pro day. USC pro day participants shaved an average of 1.26 tenths off their combine times and it was all done with hard work right?

    Got some ocean front property in kentucky you want to try and sell?

    Wait...

    Why didn't you say so? Therefore all that working out and measurements don't count. The defensive player of the Super Bowl always becomes a perennial all pro in the NFL so who cares what his measureables are, his lack of production in college, his lack of production at the position we'd draft him for...

    <sarcasm off>

    I said he's slow for his position and his weight. From his production...or lack there of, he's not a great pass rusher at DE.

    Lol...

    What would you like to attribute it to...? And please keep in mind your explanation needs to be able to account for the players that ran slower than at the combine.

    You still haven't answered my question. If you run a 40 tomorrow and then train at it (in addition to getting in better shape. eating perfectly, ect) for a couple of months...you don't think your speed will improve by a tenth of a second? You think the ONLY way you get faster is by running on a faster surface?
