McGinn has been doing this forever, though, and his track record is unmatched. He doesn't pretend to be a scout, but the info he gets is straight. A lot of times the scout's comments will be extremely contradictory, so either they see different things or some of them are spreading misinformation. But it's McGinn who releases the Wonderlic scores each year. At least the ones he thinks are significant, so he has a lot more inside info than any of us will ever have.

FTR a scout is going to note a weakness anytime he sees it regardless of how often it comes up

    Same with a strength

Trick is sorting thru scouting reports to see how often a guy may be a liability

    Or watch the tapes yourself

I don't pay too much attention to the comments, but McGinn gets the scouts to rate players at a position, and also what round they should be drafted in. That cumulative info is usually quite predictive of the draft and even more predictive of long term value of the prospects.

Well it’s pretty obvious he didn’t talk to any Titans scouts...

Who cares though? Just because one scout said he’s a mid 2nd round pick and we got him early 2nd doesn’t mean anything. It’s not like there was a 6th round grade on this guy.

Not dissing Landry. I just thought it was interesting that McGinn (via league scouts) had both Titan picks just about exactly where they went in the draft. But they're worth more to Tenn because of the position fit. Most observers thought ILB and Edge were the two biggest holes on the roster at the time of the draft.

The fact that they had them about where they went tells me we really did have to trade up to get them. There's a very good chance they wouldn't fall much further, and there's no way they both would have made it to our original picks.

Exactly. And I said predraft it was more about quality than quantity at this point with the roster JR has assembled. The more time goes by, the more I love what JR did that weekend.

Landry seems like a solid choice. Most boards had him higher than McGinn. I feel better about him than Evans. Also they seemed to get a few UDFA who were considered draft worthy to fill in the missing slots. They signed Anthony Firkser, the Harvard guy who is very similar to Kyle Juszyzk, (and somewhat similar to D. Walker) in a TE/HB/FB role. Also Ethan Wolf as a longer shot at TE.
