    Hybrid safety with an advanced feel for play design and recognition of where the ball is going and how to play it. He could thrive in a "robber" role or as a big nickel where he can match up against pass-catching tight ends. He's not twitchy, fast or fluid and has some limitations in man coverage; however, he has the size, instincts and ball skills to become a plus starter, but needs to find his perfect scheme fit.

    ====

    Amani Hooker projects favorably as a modern age Strong Safety. While Hooker lacks the initial burst and range to play in single high, he's strong in Cover-2 and in shallow zones thanks to terrific football IQ, clean footwork for sudden transitions and good ball skills. Effective block shedding from the slot to blow up screens and impact the run. Hooker should be a starter who can be a true asset both vs. the run and pass. Should transition quickly thanks to football IQ.

    ====

    Opted to forego his senior year of eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Hooker was one of the best safeties in football last season, finishing the year with four interceptions, seven passes defended, one sack, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 65 total tackles. His strong play earned him Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year honors and his 91.1 coverage grade was second-best among defensive backs, according to Pro Football Focus.

    Hooker’s 91.1 coverage grade last season was the second-highest of any defensive back in the country.

    I don’t know who is writing these breakdowns but he ran a 4.48 and had a 37” vertical at the combine. Also a 10’2 broad jump. I’m not sure how he isn’t “fast” or “athletic”. That seems pretty damn athletic to me lol

    Heard it best on a sports radio station out here, may have to steal it.

    Nashville is the Christian version of Las Vegas.

    Dude is a playmaker, especially after he gets the ball in his hands.

    I do favor the playmakers who get it done without the rock in their hands
