I’ll say again... JRobs jobs isn’t even remotely in jeopardy, nor should it be. Wilson wasn’t close to the worst draft bust in history. He was the 29th pick. Damn near a 2nd round pick. Was it a bad pick? Yes.

Biggest bust in NFL history is going to belong to a top 10 pick that foamed out.

    Russell @ pick #1 overall
    Leaf @ pick #2 overall

    Mandarin
    Couch
Lions drafting Joey Harrington #3 in 2002 and Charles Rogers #2 in 2003

Okay, now it’s time to evaluate the trades and see if the Trader Jon title has served him well.

Just a reminder of the PFF Grading Scale: Each player is given a grade of -2 to +2 in 0.5 increments on a given play with 0 generally being the average or “expected” grade.

We will use the same grading scale for these trades.

    Let’s GO!

    2016

The Kings Ransom Trade – The Titans trade the first overall pick for a king's ransom of picks over two years. The trade eventually worked out to Jared Goff for Jack Conklin, Austin Johnson, Derrick Henry, Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith. To say the Titans won this would be an understatement.

    +2

Exchanged 4th round picks with the Eagles for Demarco Murray. In exchange for essentially nothing, Murray would help change the culture in the locker room and lead the AFC in rushing yards that year.

    +2

Traded Dorial Green-Beckham to Eagles for Dennis Kelly. We all know how that worked out.

    +2

    2017

Traded a 4th round pick to the Patriots to move up in the 3rd and select Taywan Taylor. Taylor never was the productive player we hoped for, but wasn’t terrible.

    -0.5

Traded a 6th round pick to the Eagles to move up in the 5th to select Jayon Brown. Brown immediately contributed and was a full time starter soon thereafter.

    +1.5

    2018

Traded a 4th round pick to the Ravens to move up in the 1st and select Rashaan Evans. Evans has been a good starter for us.

    0

Traded a 3rd round pick to the Raiders to move up in the 2nd and select Harold Landry. Landry was a starter immediately and has been a strong contributor. A 3rd was pretty steep though.

    +0.5

Traded a 6th round pick to the Ravens for Kamalei Correa. A big contributor in our run to the AFC Championship game, Correas 7 sacks in 2019 were well worth the 6th.

    +1

    2019

Traded a 4th round pick and a 7th round pick for Ryan Tannehill and a 6th round pick that would turn into David Long Jr. Do I even have to say it?

    +2

Traded a 4th and a 5th for a 4th and a 5th with the Jets to move up in the 4th and select Amani Hooker. Hooker has been a talented starter caliber player that cost us essentially nothing to move up and get.

    +1

    2020

Traded Jurrell Casey to Denver for a 7th round pick. Saved cap space but it was just blaaaarrrrrg.

    -1

Traded 6th round pick to the Chargers for Desmond King. King played well for us.

    +0.5

    2021

Traded Isaiah Wilson to the Dolphins for a 7th more or less, dumping Wilsons salary off our books and ridding us of a major distraction.

    +1

The money they earned is why they are bigger busts. They didn’t have a cap limit on the amount of money they could waste.

Second point, those players all set their franchise back arguably for 2-3 years or more (raiders/lions had multiple busts drafted in short period, tough to know how much the individual player set them back).

Wilson is the biggest bust in franchise history as far as wasted pick vs production (none) and no injury to speak of. Luckily, later 1st round pick and that the team actually improved regardless of his bust status helps keep him off the entire NFL biggest bust list.

Another good ranking overall, I’d only argue if the Dennis Kelly was a +2, Id think the Brown would be he same if not a better trade. Both were good moves.

I’d actually say the Wilson trade was a zero. If m glad he got literally anything out of that deal, but just swapping 7ths, to me, can’t be considered all that valuable.

I like the Correa grading too. While big picture correa didn’t pan out, his late season showing in 19’ was pretty key in helping reach the AFCCG. King also last year in reaching 11-5 and div champs.

Not having Conklin, Davis , Austin or Jonnu on the roster anymore or past their rookie deals, not sure how we can say that was a good trade.Especially when it was a "Kings Ransom"..although we did get the King! Henry is a beast

    Dodd was a dud

You must be joking. It’s not like we CUT them. They’re not on the roster because they all signed huge free agent deals and are among the highest paid players at their positions in the league! If anything that proves my point. Dodd wasn’t part of the trade.
