Reese came back from the Senior bowl high on Cutler but never mentioned it after that. There was an ESPN documentary about the big 3 drafted that year, and Fisher confirmed he and Reese both wanted Lienart. Hint: both are from USC. Only Adams wanted VY. I believe Adams was also embarrassed about Pacman and dumped him.

 

Reese is from UCLA.

Oh, so Floyd wanted him just because he was from California? Newsflash: A lot of players are from California.

Floyd wasn’t the type of mind to want a player due to nepotism like Fisher was. Case in point: Floyd was about to draft Devon Hester but Fisher begged him to take Lendale White instead. If Floyd cared about California boys that much, why wasn’t Lendale higher on his list?

 

Because if Lendale converts that 4th and 1 we wouldn't have been stuck with VY.

Fisher of course felt Lienart was much more able to grasp the pro system of the 3. Two are gone and Cutler will probably retire being .500 at best. Just a busted draft.

 

Definitely. Cutler was by far the most successful of the 3, and even he was a disappointment.

 

I'm just telling what Fisher said during his radio visit with 104.5 last week (or the week before). When he was asked the question, he said "What was the number of the QB that played over here?"
Hutton said "Jay Cutler?" Fisher said "yep."
"That's who you were going to take?
"Yes! People forget we coached him in the senior bowl."

 

So you think OCs shouldn't be hired as coaches? Because that's where it seems you are going with that logic. Most coaches aren't good which means any coach we hire from any former position or from any coaching tree is likely to be a failure. So I guess we might as well just stick with Mularkey.
