But with the Colts surging and the Cardinals having lost three of four, it's time to reassess.

Manning is willing the Colts to victory. His performance against the Jaguars was nearly flawless. The Colts have as many victories in their last eight games -- eight -- as the Cardinals have managed all season. While Warner's accomplishments remain impressive, particularly in the context of the Cardinals' recent history, Manning has the momentum. We'll see if that changes now that the Colts can't improve their playoff standing.

Warner could have a hard time regaining his momentum during a Week 16 game at New England. The matchups against the Patriots' injury-depleted defense favor Arizona, but other forces work against Warner. The weather figures to be cold and wet or icy. Receiver Anquan Boldin and running back J.J. Arrington might not play for the Cardinals. New England probably needs a victory to keep pace in the AFC East race.

The five-man ballot I proposed last week featured Warner, Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, Manning and Jay Cutler. The updated version might fall closer to this order: Manning, Warner, Peterson, Brees and Cutler. But Warner needs a strong game to hold that second spot.

    sure he does.

no running game, a defense that plays horrible for 3 quarters a game and he has brought the team back from a defecit to win at least 4 times this year

    To be more specific.

Colts are 32nd in rushing offense.

    28th in composite return average.

2 of their top players have been injured all year. Sanders has started just 4 games and jeff saturday just 2 games.

    2 rookie offensive guards.

They beat the unbeatable(according to some on this board) steelers and have 5 other big wins against good teams.

As for warner's team they have lost 3 of 4 and have only 2 wins all year against teams with winning records. The arizona cardinals are just a 7-9 team with an easy scedule.

2 of the 10 best QBs in the modern, post merger era are peyton manning and tom brady. They are 2 of the greatest QBs in the history of this game!

Everyone wants to prop up a pretender like drew brees and dare to call him the best QB. Brees is at best 3rd.

A top QB always trumps any RB or WR. Look at the bengals without carson palmer. 32nd in offense!

There are many mvp contenders. a few defensive players, a RB(peterson) and a few QBs. I don't know any QB more deserving than manning.

In Warner's defense, they have had the division clinched for about 3 weeks now. Manning is only a 36-hour veteran to clinching his spot in the 2009 playoffs, so it's no surprise that he has been playing better the past month. I've never understood why the last 5 weeks are more important than the first 5. If that's the case, then yea, Manning should win hands down after how terrible he was early in the season.

It's not taking anything away from Manning, because without him that team would be terrible. At the same time, we've seen what Leinhart has been able to do even with a solid crop of receivers, so the same could be said for Warner.

It's hard to try to pick the best in the league, there is always room for arguing one over the other. The deciding fact for me is that Indy's defense has stepped up this year, while Arizona's has been almost nonexistent.

I think it's Warner, AP, Manning, in that order
