Costs too much to move up that far
We could maybe slide up to 10 if we really want to, but not 3
We need more than 4 draft picks this year and sacrificing all of this draft and a lot of next years won't cut it.
Cost is quite steep though some teams have gotten pretty far for less than the trade chart...but in this case, there are gonna be blue chip players on the board...but there is a lot of quality so I don't think they will get full trade value since most teams will make the determination that the difference between who I can get at 3 vs 19 is not worth high picks across 3 draft classes.
Is the trade worth it? Possibly...if that blue chipper turns into a perennial pro bowler and potential hall of fame player.
The problem is, we don't know where we will be at QB next year. If Mariota plays great and looks like our franchise guy, all is fine there. If he doesn't, and it's got high end qb talent, that'd be the wrong time to be without all of your premium picks next year.
I think it's more likely that the Titans have a list of players they really like. If one of them falls to a range they are willing to move up for (not burning picks next year), we could do that. If someone on that list doesn't make it to us, we could trade out and look to get some picks for next years draft...simply to load up there in case we NEED to make a move for a qb next year.
The ultimate question that is dictating a lot of how the Titans are having to create plans for the future if he does or doesn't work out.
Last year, I had a feeling we'd trade up. This year, I almost feel like J-Rob is more likely to trade down than up. If he can pick up an extra 3rd by dropping down 5 or 6 spots he might do it, especially if the guy he wants will probably still be around.
However, if for some reason Quinnen or Sweat fall out of the top 10, I'd strongly consider going up to get them.
I'd do it for that
gonna have to go higher than 3 if we are gonna get bosa
probably pull a Pats and trade down out of the first round and only trade back up if somebody slips
