I am ok with Troupe being here, because I thought he was no worse than Scaife this year. Scaife hurt us quite a bit. And has no potential. While Troupe still has potential. I think he deserves one more season to see if he can be useful in the new offense. If he can't, then so long. I would have cut him this year had Scaife not been so clumsy. But he was, and so I'd prefer them to compete for the job.

But we still need a tight end while these 2 decide if they're gonna play ball or not...

You'll get to see Troupe do great things, once he goes to another team.

What happened to Scaife this year? He played great last year and seemed like a franchise TE.

Sorry, but Troupe has no one to blame but himself. It wasn't coaches that whiffed on blocks, dropped passes, made bonehead special team plays.

It's not hard to be an amazing athlete and a terrible football player.

I seriously doubt Troupe is a Titan next year, but I'd like to see it happen.

Dinger was always good at utilizing a player's strengths while de-emphasizing his weaknesses....especially in the receiving corps.

Look at Troupe's rookie year. He couldn't block, and he had trouble picking up the playbook....but by year's end, Dinger found a way to take advantage of Troupe's athleticism, and he had a signicant impact in the latter part of the season.

Chow's offense basically treated all TE's the same, and confined them to a traditional TE role. This is fine for a more traditional-style TE like Erron Kinney or Ben Hartsock; unfortunately, Troupe is a poor fit for this role, and pretty much stunk the joint up. (Scaife isn't much of a blocker, but he was still a better fit than Troupe).

If they don't use a high pick on a TE, I could see Heimerdinger lobbying Fisher to keep Troupe around for one more year, and parlaying that athleticism into playmaking ability.
