This one more than most.
Brady, Brees, Rivers, Roethlisburger, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes, Watson, Ryan, Luck- all elite, team-elevating players. That's 1/3 of the league, so they aren't all that hard to find. You just have to accept that your current QB sucks, and devote all resources into improving that situation.
More than half the QBs you listed had their share of problems before they gained their current status. Some took several years to develop (Rogers, Brees, Rivers), and a few have had significant injury problems (Brady, Luck, Roethlisberger).
It's way too early to have Watson on that list.
My point is that contrary to popular opinion, no, franchise QBs don't grow on trees. They're exceptional, and they come with a fair amount of training and work to develop. MM8 will be on his 5th OC in as many years, which none of the others you listed have come close to dealing with.
He's already under contract through next year, so rage away. Barring some major disaster, he's going to be under center in 2019, so I'll be hoping for his success rather than his failure.
I'd certainly try to extend Byard this offseason
Titans control MM8 thru 2021 if they choose to franchise tag him twice.
MM has had 4 year to “light” things up. He has only had a handful of games were you could argue he has done so. I don’t understand why people all of a sudden think he is going to turn into a top 10 QB all of a sudden.
I absolutely hope it happens.
I hope for it in much the same way I hope I win the lottery, or get to sleep with Kate upton. Meaning that I know it isn't gonna happen.
Mm8 is what he is. He isn't going to all of a sudden double his production.
I’m not in Nashville so I’m not going to pretend to know how many people are waiting for PSL’s. However, I would assume that there would be plenty of people waiting to buy as well.
Yessiree dee dee Bozo, they do. If he has another mediocre season in 19, tag him in 20 and draft his replacement. He can play well enough as a game-manager for a season while a rookie QB is getting up to speed.
When we drafted Marcus, I don't think anyone thought he was going to be the next Manning/Brady. If you did then you didn't watch him play in college. Marcus isn't going to put up monster passing numbers. He is a competitive gamer though. The way people talk on this board you would think the Titans are trash and that Marcus is total garbage. Well the Titans have won the 10th most games in the league over the past 3 yrs. Compare that to the pre-Marcus era....I don't want to go back there. Looking at the AFC playoff games this weekend (the final 4) this years Titans club could play with any of them.....and we beat 2 of the 4 NFC teams left.
Our roster is getting better each year...not only starters, but depth players. We hardly lose anyone to FA this year so we should be able to continue to improve both ends of the roster.
I know that people are going to complain when the Titans don't make a big splash signing of an OC, but we learned this yr what happens if you choose the next young hot OC. We need some consistency on our staff which means no flashy hire.
Marcus is going to be our QB for the next few yrs at least. We need to continue to build up the team around him and pray for health.
