What do you base this opinion on?

    Watt ... ( check )
Cushing ... ( cant stay healthy, PED issues )
Clowney .... ( maybe , maybe not... still a risky pick could be the biggest bust in NFL history)
    Jamison .... ( Really? )
Reed .... ( nothing special at all, in fact has been bad )
    Mercilus .. ( see Reed )
    Tarpinian ( WHO ?)

My point is ... even if Clowney turns out to be good, which I doubt because he is a low motor, low character guy the Texans dont have a hell of alot else. There secondary sticks. The Texans havent and do not scare me. They are one of the most overrated teams in the last 10 years They were good for 2 years because of a weak division.

Anyway.. I dont see the Texans front 7 being the best. Not even close.

Fisher usually can get his moneys worth out of running backs & they just drafted Tre Mason.

If Sam can't stay healthy, I don't think Fish will mind running Tre and Zac 20+ times each, hell even with Sam healthy that sounds like it could do some damage.

I think teams passed on him not because of the sexual orientation, but because of what sort of media attention it brings and the circus. Just like so many teams passed on Manziel, media attention plays a part in the NFL today, more so than people think. Teams don't want to be on "Hard Knocks" if anyone remembers that show.

I think teams today strive to be like the Patriots regarding media attention. Look how they handled Hernandez, dropped him fast. I only wish the Titans would have handled the Pac-man situation like that.

Media attention that is not football based causes diversions, lack of focus, and unwanted attention. It fuels any potential fires and makes them a million times worse if it gets out in the public.

Sam had a poor combine and got annihilated against the run when playing some stronger OLs.

He's not the guy that can or will ever be a one man wrecking crew, but on a team with a few other good players that can draw attention, this dude can thrive. I would have had no issue drafting him in the 5th or even 4th round. His biggest downfall is the attention he brings and the question "will the players accept him in the locker room"

It is hard to say. There were guys who were supposed to be drafted as high as the third that were not taken at all.

That being said, if Sam turns out to be even a decent role player the Rams are laughing.

I applaud Fisher for picking him in spite of all scrutiny it will bring. He is a good football player and proved that in the SEC.

You forgot Nix... Without him I wouldn't have said best front 7... although I think it's very good regardless.

And you aren't giving Reed and Mercilus enough credit.

Of course they have sucked for a decade though. Way to state the obvious. And they weren't even that good in 2011 and 2012. Couldn't beat good teams.

Nix ix a rookie and who knows... Reed and Mercilus are nothing special. Especially Reed. I live in Houston and even crazy delusional Texan fans dont like Reed.

Im not impressed. Maybe I am wrong. We will see in a few months. They will have to play good defense because that offense will be terrible.
