Did Mularkey's offensive scheme result in more OL injuries?

This is more a question after me thinking about Conklin's injury this weekend. Mularkey's offensive scheme relied on these heavy bunch formations to support his style of run first pass later approach.

I have wondered if this scheme, which resulted in teams not worried about our passing game, resulted in simply more defensive bodies crammed at the line and as a result put our Oline at more risk for these kinds of injuries where people were rolling ankles and knees etc.

Personally I dont know why Conklin never wore braces in this day and age...but anyway was just thinking out loud about this.

    Sure, anything to blame Mularkey!

    :bliss:

But really, the o-line was healthy pretty much throughout his tenure. Warmack hurt his finger/hand, Spain got turf toe, and Conklin got rolled up on. That's it as far as I remember.

Maybe the potential was there, but it didn't really happen other than once.

We've had seasons where we're on our 5th Offensives Tackle, so no I dont think you can attribute Conklin's injury to the scheme this year, linemen gets rolled up on all the time..

Yeah, I think we've been as healthy as anyone on the OL the last few years.

Zero significant injuries the last 2 years with the exception of Da’Quan. Yes, Flota got hurt in week 17, but he’s always hurt.

We’ve been absolutely charmed. You know what that means....major injuries in ‘18.

And all OL get rolled up on, the thing is they’re smart and 90% wear braces to protect themselves. Bad on Conklin, Lewan needs to get the message too. This is not optional.

Teams weren't worried about our passing because of M8.

It's true, this team has been pretty lucky avoiding major injuries the past couple years. Some guys miss here and there, which is normal, but nothing significant outside of Mariota. I'm glad he was able to finish the year without anything major. It'l be great for him to get to work on his craft all summer, instead of rehabbing. I was worried about Rak when we signed him, and Morgan, but both have been fairly healthy as well.
