Excellent book. Always a little difficult for me to read, because some aspects of Willie Loman always remind me of my dad. But the image of the dreamer, the man who wants a certain life and will accept no other reality, is a powerful one.

An interesting idea that I always think about in connection with this play is this: Nostalgia is the longing for a past that never existed. We look back on things in a way that doesn't really reflect reality. I guess that's why I've never been someone who spends a lot of time wishing for the past. You've got to be able to enjoy the life that you have now, and make it the life that you want.

Yea I know what you mean, over time you start to get the idea that none of the things Willy talked about being great at ever happened. Its just so deep how everything is connected in his mind in the past and present, and how it seemed Biff was set for failure since the beginning imo, its a sad story for both Willy and his family, but I have to say its one of the best Ive ever read
