Part of me wonders if all the high profile awareness campaigns for professional athletes' long term health and wealth is actually getting to some of these players.

The most common story with some of these guys who play for decades is that they become 40 or 50 one day, they're insolvent and disabled. The complete opposite of their glory days.

Don't blame anyone for early retirement if they have already planned the next chapters of their lives appropriately. Hopefully, our a beat writer will interview him about this.

He had 3 concussions. Quality of life I'm sure was his reason for retirement. Good blocker. Hopefully his head is ok.

In reading this article, it's odd how excited Stevens was before Training Camp when he signed a one-year deal, if he knew that retirement was a possibility. He also won one of the off season awards for his hard work. We can only speculate, but sounds like something went on in his personal life that led him to retire.

I think it's weird the DGB trade had anything to do with him retiring, but as pointed out, it's not like he was an offensive juggernaut or anything. I liked him, thought he was under utilized a little bit but only as a #2 TE, he was never #1 material. Good luck in the future.

Signing and drafting Tight Ends as his replacement. Not a problem.

Consistent, losing seasons. Nah all good.

    Hiring Mularkey. Hey, we're sweet.

Trade DGB. WHAT! NO! F**K this. I'm retiring.

That would be so Titans if it were true.

Damn. I liked Stevens. He was the hard nosed fullback type of TE.

And he caught just about everything that went his way, even if it wasn't much.
