Corey Davis. Where are you?

So you are saying that we should take out the better qb and insert a trash qb and that is going to make things better?

Mariota is done, unless Tannehill gets hurt. Mariota has proven he is not a good qb and no one wants him. Let it go. No more Mariota.

 

You literally can't get more open in the NFL than he did on the PI yesterday. His lack of production is a product of this offense. People are expecting numbers that the system or OC just can't provide. He'll get his shot somewhere else and I'm sure he's counting down the days until he does.

 

Im conflicted on this one.

One one hand. The offense sucks and isnt WR friendly. he's shown flashes, comes up in key downs every now and then, and then in some games just straight out isnt targeted.

On the other hand, you see Courtland Sutton's TD yesterday and think goddam, Corey aint ever done that

 

And that is my biggest fear. We FINALLY have 2 good playmakers at WR but Arthur Smith is killing this offense from within. I always felt we should have hired Lefleur as our HC. At least our offense would be more effective now that Tannehill is under center.

 

Tammy is moving the ball down field more than Mary, that's easy to see. He was not great yesterday but he tried so can't knock that. Mary so scared to make mistakes that he doesn't trust himself and doesn't try.

But it's so disappointing Corey is non existent with Tammy or Mary at QB. Although, his best game ever was with Mary under center. Tammy has not unlocked Corey.

 

Davis had 30% of the passing yards last year and was one of the best 3rd down receivers in the league. Our offense scored more PPG despite no Brown, no Humphries, no Walker, a QB who couldn't grip the ball and Blaine Gabbert. It's not Davis's fault that Smith is trying to get cute and get others involved and is failing miserably. He should have tried to build on what worked last year instead of introducing a bunch of stuff which doesn't. He can't throw the ball to himself and he can't design plays which aren't totally ineffective.

So why is the offense worse now with zBrown being a beast compared to last year when Davis was doing it on his own and far more productive despite way worse circumstances?

 

You can have someone's playbook but you still have to call the right plays. We screwed up not making Lafluer head coach and then promoted someone to say for continuity reasons to "help" the quarterback. If they really wanted to give mariota the best chance to succeed, Lafluer would be head coach. Period.

 

Well this franchise is cursed, offensively. We get a legitimately good offensive coach, and the entire team goes down. We get a legitimately good receiving group, the newly appointed OC reveals himself to be a poor-man's Robiskie.

We're obviously going to have to copy Baltimore and get a true dual-threat QB with an emphasis on his running ability, instead of these stiff mediocre QBs who can run fast in a straight line.
