    "A Program Out of Control"

Nearly every single big time college program has gotten their hands dirty in the past few decades.

Look at Baylor "Baptist" - Louisville Basketball Underage Escort Scandal, all the scandals at UT over the years, USC and Reggie Bush living like an LA Playboy while in college

When everyone's hands are dirty, do infractions and penalties really matter?

The NCAA has some of the most ridiculous rules. One of my buddies in college brought home the NCAA rule book and it was like a small cities phone book... and kids are supposed to know and abide by all of those rules?

    Soapbox alert:

Here's what I don't get about the NCAA and the whole paying players thing...

Why don't they just require that ALL student athletes participate in some group community service activity that lasts through out the year to raise money for the Athletic dept? The students are technically working for the money and the universities can evenly distribute those profits to all student athletes in the form of a stipend.

It also helps the athletics teams bond with the community and encourages community interest in teams. It doesn't even have to be community service. I remember hearing a story about disgraced Joe Paterno making his players clean up the stadium after they showed poor conduct on/off the field.
