Titans should have found a way to sign him much earlier and not let it get to this point. That was a major JR weakness.

If teams got together to do that it would be collusion. They need the ability to designate 1 superstar that doesn’t count against the cap. But, the insanity of overpaying is only going to get worse. It accelerated under Bill Polian in the Panther’s inaugural year. He spent crazy money per player without a thought to the long term ramifications.

Never understood why teams wait for other teams to set the market of a position knowing they need to get their guy under contract as cheap as they can while making sure he gets what he's worth in their mind.

I guess players don’t realize that they’re shortening their own careers.

with these price tags, they’re all done by 30.

He doesn’t have nearly the impact a top WR has and that’s the difference. The defense didn’t miss a beat when he was out last year. A great player for sure, but doesn’t have a big enough impact in Vrabel’s defense to take up such a large percentage of the cap.

They will eventually when it starts hitting the Owners pockets and no returns AKA no Superbowl wins.

Giving Payne all that money and he's not even close to bringing you a SB run.

I think the goal with players these days is to make as much money as possible while doing as little as possible. Like society in general now. Probably why the injury lists are always so big now while the game is certainly much less violent.

Totally agree, but then he'll sulk and threaten to hold out for a new contract when he sees his peers getting "the bag".

Literally inaccurate. Great receiver for a worse one? Not likely but you can’t say won’t be great for much much less Burks doesn’t call plays. Doesnt play OL or QB. If you had paid AJ, then Simmons would already be released or traded. You just can’t pay everyone $25 million per season. AJ wouldn’t have changed much last season or this.

But, we got Burks ( Who will be very good)

    McCreary
    Petit-Frere

    Not a horrible trade considering….

JRob screwed up. But the trade wasn’t horrible. I think he could have gotten more. AJ needed to go.

The key word is "threaten" to hold out because the new CBA sets such big fines that the team can not forgive that players will not hold out or if they do it won't be for long and certainly won't be for regular season games....

The nice thing in negotiations with Simmons is that the high end was already set by Donald at 95mil.
