Why did we get Collins???

  1. First of all this is a very nice Tennessee Titans board and GO TITANS.....

Second of all we have a starting QB with a losing record as a starter in 11 seasons. He is 69-78 as a starter, which isn't that good. His best years were as the Giants Starter and he did lead them to the Super Bowl only to get demolished by the Baltimore Ravens. He does have over 33,000 passing yards, but only has 3 seasons where he 5 more TD passes than INTs.

Billy Volek on the other hand has weathered the Steve McNair storm and waited in the wings for his shot to lead this team. So what does Floyd Reese do?? He goes out and gets a proven LOSER 1 week before the start of the season and somehow Billy gets demoted to 3rd string QB. Can someone explain this to me?? Why would you get a guy like Collins who has NO CLUE what offense we run and bench a guy like Billy??? The Titans have THE WORST Front Office IMO right now next to Houston. OH YEAH, and Billy went to a contender, which should say that he is a pretty good QB for a contender to want him.

Floyd Reese please leave the front office of the Titans. You have single handedly destroyed this football teams personel. I for one am tired of it and I know that many Titans fans are as well.

And to you Mr. Collins, go home to your Farm and stay retired because you can't hit the broad side of a barn because you had Bennett WIDE OPEN 4 plays today and each time you threw it 5-10 yards over his head.

It is time to see VY and let him take the reigns and if he gets hurt so be it, I would rather him get hurt this year if it happens than to see him get hurt next year. At least we would have a choice to take a QB in the draft again with a Top 5 pick which is where we are heading anyways if Collins is our starter.

Don't put this on the FO or Reese. Jeff Fisher is the reason we're stuck with Collins right now. Apparently he had a clash of personalities with Volek and decided that his ego was more important than winning games.

  5. Well if it was more of Fisher's fault, then why did we take VY instead of Leinhart in the draft?? Fisher is a VP but the Director of Football operations has final say on personel. So even if Fisher had a conflict with Volek and Reese told Fisher we are not gonna sign Collins then at least we would have had a guy who know the offense in or the future of our team. Not some has been and a loser his entire career except for like 1 season. This season is VERY important to the confidence of VY and our offense. If we struggle, VY will be less likely to have confidence in his team, but if you prosper more VY will have more confidence in the players around him and himself to get the job done.

You obviously don't follow the news much. Fisher wanted Collins so bad he whined to Bud Adams who sent Steve Underwood over to fix things. Underwood decided to go with Fisher and force Reese to sign Collins.

Or at least that is the speculation and imo the most likely scenario, considering the signing came 2 days or so after Underwood took the COO position.

  7. So if he wanted him that bad why don't you sign him BEFORE training camp and get him running the offense?? I don't think that it was a Fisher decison.

    1. Because of the trade value of Volek healthy.
    2. Because MOST of our draft picks in the past 4 years have not panned out.
And 3. Reese knew that we had no Veteran leadership and the Titans screwed up with McNair and tried to make some mends in the wound and signed Collins at the last minute to say, "Hey we picked up a Super Bowl caliber QB, so don't be mad anymore about McNair.

The WHOLE McNair situation was a complete debocile and Reese knows it and so does the Whole Front Office. You WILL see us having two first round picks and maybe three next year to try and make up for it.
