I'm on the Fire Butch bandwagon.

    I'm ahead of the curve.

    2014 - 7 wins
    2015 - 9 wins
    2016 - 9 wins

He will not crack the top 3 in this conference. He just isn't that good of a coach and he hires retarded coordinators.

Excellent recruiter though. He will stock the cupboards for the next guy but if anyone thinks he will be competitive with Malzahn, Saban and the impending mega-hire Florida makes you are fooling yourself.

I lol'd hard at the Butch Jones hire from the start.

Fire scrub Dooley; hire the guy who lost to Dooley. Lmao nice. I don't wanna hear the whole "well Cincy can't compete with UT" garbage... UT was awful in every way imaginable for every second Dooley was there. Inexcusable to hire Butch Jones, seeing as he lost to Dooley. Should've dug deeper and found someone else.

It's hilarious how many UT folks think Franklin is trash and Butch is great. Delusional.

We have really dumb fans. They don't even realize when they are on the verge of being relegated to Ole Miss status for 20 years.

That's the question you have to ask yourself if you're in the athletic department. Do you want a guy who wins, brings life to the fanbase, and brings money into the program in exchange for (possibly) a guy who may not be as likable other coaches? Given the current state of UT, having a "nice guy" is a luxury. They need to win to get fans back in the seats, and to get UT back on the front page.

I'm not sold on butch as an X's and O's guy just yet. But I still support the hire. His recruiting is phenomenal. At worst, he'll he a place holder for talent until a real coach gets here.

This is a terrible argument. Even though UT was bad under Dooley, they still had far more talent than Cincinnati did. FAR more talent. If you swap coaches and have Butch coach UT against Dooley and Cincinnati that year, Butch would have blown them out too. Any coach could have won against Cincy with the talent differential in that game.

It's not just attitude that is the scary part, it's the fact that he can bring the hammer down on your program from the NCAA, because he is unethical. He is very nice to his recruits, he's like Calipari Jr.

the fear is that it could turn into the same thing that happened to the once-proud USC football program.

But you are right, UT has nowhere to go but up.

    Agree to disagree.

It's still pathetic to lose to Dooley unless you are Austin Peay or some scrub school like that.

Can't bring Bruce Pearl back but of the negative attention from NCAA. We need to finally get all these violations and issues to go away.

My problem with Butch, besides losing to Dooley, is that he was brought in to rebuild a program.

HE HAS NEVER DONE THAT OR HAD TO DO THAT.

He rode in behind Brian Kelly at both of his jobs. Took over programs that were already "built up".

I'm not saying he can't do it. I do believe Butch will leave the program in much better shape than he found it. Superior to Dooley.

Butch shouldn't be here in 5 years. If Tennessee isn't playing for a BCS title by 2016 he should be gone. Nothing less should be acceptable at Tennessee.

It isn't acceptable at Florida, LSU, Alabama or Auburn.

I'd say Georgia but they have shown they are perfectly content not playing for championships by keeping Richt employed for a decade or so with no crystal football to show for it.

That is what I don't want to happen to Tennessee. Don't let Butch Jones be your Mark Richt. Don't be so relieved to get back to 10 wins after a decade of disappointment that you forget what you should be.

IMO Butch Jones is our Mike Shula. Hang out for four years. Recruit. Win a bit and get out the door.

Butch just isn't the cerebral coach that will get the most out of his guys. He showed that this year.
