    In a recent interview for the Tampa Tribune Tony Dungy said the following when asked about drafting Rams DE Michael Sam;
    Now despite overcoming many obstacles himself as an African American player growing up thru the civil rights movement Dungy pulled a 180 on us when he dropped those comments. I personally thought Dungy would take the high road and at least lie and say nice things about Sam, but he stayed true to himself and slams Sam. Not sure how this will be received but so far its not looking good for Dungy.

    I definitely wouldn't consider that "slamming" Michael Sam, unless there's something more than just the little blurb you quoted. Sounds like he was just being honest and saying he wouldn't want to deal with the headache. I don't really see anything wrong with the comments but I don't doubt plenty of keyboard warriors will get all up in arms about it.

    Yet he openly supports Michael Vick and the baggage he brings.

    This is what I fcking hate about being politically correct. And in particular, the agenda to promote greater acceptance of homosexuality.

    Dungy simply stated he wouldn't want the headache associated with integrating an openly gay player into a locker room culture. The headache he's talking about is the kind of stuff that we saw initially with Sam signing for an "Oprah" based reality show. That had to be delicately corrected. What HC (other than Fisher) wants to have to deal with that on top of everything else?

    How about we just understand that sexuality is a private affair for the VAST majority of our citizens? And honestly, nobody is more entitled with their own interests that they are allowed to suppress the opinions of others. Especially those as harmless as what Dungy has communicated.

    May seem a bit hypocritical but it's his prerogative. Regardless, I don't think Dungy meant any disrespect with his comments. He never said no one should have drafted Sam. Only that he wouldn't have.

    I personally dont care for Sam at all, he's simply not good enough of a player, but Dungy's stance on this is contradictory to things he's done in the past

    It's also worth noting that Michael Vick is a much, MUCH more talented player than Sam. And therefore more worth the "baggage" from a football standpoint.
