Did you see what it cost the Falcons to move up to get Julio Jones? Obviously the Falcons moved up from a later pick, but it's going to take some ammo to move from 20, let's say, to eight.
There's no way such a trade would get done for what you are saying. It would cost a 1st this year and a 1st next year for the Titans to move into the top 10. It might cost more.
Trading up for something you can't get like a top QB or maybe even Julio Jones makes sense at a certain level. DE and DT are deep in this draft, at least deep enough to get a good pick at 20.
This is a bad draft for DLs. Top 15 projected guys like Cox, Poe, Brockers, Coples aren't significantly better or more likely to pan out than the lower 1st round guys like Perry, Ingram, Mercilus. Personally, i'm not impressed with any of them. Most of them are guys whose workout hype far exceeds their production, are one year wonders, or are the best of a bad crop of DLs. None of these guys are comparable to the 2011 class (Marcel Dareus, JJ Watt, Aldon Smith). This is more like the 2010 class - a bunch of hit (JPP, Alualu) or miss (Morgan, Graham) guys - but really hard to project which will be which. Trading up for one of these guys is just flat out dumb.
Lol..I actually dont have an issue with them trading up. Just NOT in this years draft lol. There are some draft classes where the talent pool is just amazing so you make some sacrifices to get your guy. Have no issue with that at all. But this years class (IMO) is so weak..theres nobody thats worth it
Id be cool with us trading up IN THE SECOND ROUND. This is a pretty deep draft at Dline (supposedly) so id be cool with doing it in the second round.
I could see this getting done and it not take a 1st from next year. Maybe it's our 1st,3rd this year and next year's 3rd? Just a thought. Edit: ok it would be probably cost a 2nd this year or next year. And I hope, if true, that this will be to snag Blackmon.
I agree with you here. It seems to me there must be someone they really like though to wanna push for this.
