I'm in the same boat. Consume 5000ish calories a day and shoot for 100g of protein. Still hard to put on weight. Started lifting i'd say about 6-7 months ago, weighed ~160 and i'm about 178 now. 18 pounds in 1/2 year, i'll take it. I've always been 'skinny-fat', slim figure but still chubby. Trying to add muscle and then eventually will cut.
Knives cant penetrate my abs. Solid six pack.
No really, the knife will have to poke thru 6 cans of beer first.

I've pretty much been skinny since freshman year of high school. I was short and slightly chubby in 8th grade. Then I went through a massive growth spurt, but all I did was stretch out. I went from like 5'7" to 6'2" in about 18 months. I've probably grown an inch since then, so I'm 6'3" and obviously maxed out now. Gaining weight is hard. If I eat what normal people eat I will start to lose weight. I have to stuff my face.
I still wish I was taller by two inches... and two inches longer.
