I like the source material, and I LOVE some of the castings (Idris Elba and Ray Stevenson, two HBO drama heavyweights). I honestly have no idea about the lead actor (only seen him for 5 minutes in Star Trek), but he certainly looks the part.

I like how the beginning goes pretty much right after the Ironman 2 ending credits.

It's creative how they webbed Iron man and Thor together, but it is pretty dumb. Iron Man is a somewhat believable story, and Thor comes from the heavens. The stories don't quite mesh up. I absolutely hated the hammer at the end of the Iron Man 2 movie.
All this is, is an excuse to keep on making sequels, spinoffs, and everything else to keep that cash flowing in, and not to make interesting films. I'm sure Thor will end up with some other run-on in the end credits that will lead to another disservice to comic books we grew up loving.

that being said, the trailer looks a lot better than I was expecting though.

Can I also mention that Samuel L Jackson plays "Samuel L Jackson with an eyepatch on" and not Nick Fury... at all. He is more similar to his character in Pulp fiction than he is to Nick Fury in the Iron Man movies. I certainly will not be watching the Avengers movie when they decide to spew it out.

You may not see the Avengers movie, but I pretty much guarantee it will be the highest gross movie topping Avatar.

Probably so. Marketers are brilliant. A new "Top 5 movie EVER" comes out yearly. Ticket prices keep going up, so they're going to have inflated profits.

Lead bucket and mercury filled hat salesmen probably made a lot of money back in their days too, doesn't mean their product was any good.

It's hard to be down on the believability factor of comic book heros - esp when the source material has been around longer than 99% of the people on these boards.. No different here than Batman/Superman..
Just don't dumbify the film ala Fantastic Four.. Ugh.
The only other thing I've seen Hemsworth in beside Trek was the bad guy in Perfect Getaway. In two hears he'll be the next Sam Worthington I'm sure. Though there was an outcry by the fans to have the dude that plays Eric on True Blood to play Thor, which would be a good call in my book.. Either way..
I hope Thor does well as our company was used for background product placement in a pet store scene.. Fingers crossed.
