I thought I might go for an unorthodox approach to dealing with the QB issue in the draft and go for someone late rather than wasting a lot of wonga on someone who could turn out to be a bad bust. Obviously we are going to sign a veteran so the vet I would acquire after this draft when free agency eventually opens is:

    Marc Bulger

I always liked Marc and he would be able to run our offense efficiently and maybe get a few results for us while also having the skills to progress and improve other QB's on our roster.

THE_TITAN'S TENNESSEE TITANS 2011 DRAFT CLASS:

ROUND 1: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn

I'm sorry that this is the boring same old pick that all the other mock drafts on the web have us taking but I would love it to happen. We need some more inside presence and Fairley gives us just that. He could be one of the most dominant DT's in the NFL and who better than his college coach Rocker to unload all of his potential at the Titans? He would be a great value pick up, in my opinion, as well because I feel he is a top five talent pick. His 'character concerns' are not fully substantiated and his tape speaks for itself.

ROUND 2: Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh

I really like this guy and before you start yapping at me I did not take a QB in the first two rounds of my mock because I think there won't be enough value. I don't think we'll be able to trade far up enough for Locker or Mallett who in my opinion will be gone in the first round and I don't love any of the other QB's to take them in round two. Instead I take Sheard who I really like on tape and I feel he has all the needs to possibly start on the defensive line in his rookie season. This guy is first round talent but will fall to the second round because of the amount of useless QB's being selected.

ROUND 3: Mason Foster, OLB, Washington

The Titans need an impact player in our linebacking corps and Mason Foster could be the perfect guy in the third round. He has had a solid college career at Washington and is a tackling machine. He has fantastic athletic ability and is the perfect size to play in a 4-3 defensive scheme. He is not fantastic in coverage though he has the right tools to be solid in coverage. This could be done by taking a bit of the aggression out of his game where he can get caught by misdirection.

ROUND 4: Nathan Enderle, QB, Idaho

Finally we take a QB and it will be a bit of a shock and reach to some people but I know a few draft fanatics that love this guy just as much as I do and I see this as a great pick. Enderle has been so underrated in this draft, he is a guy that played in a pro style offense that revolved around him. He displayed great leadership, great knowledge of the offense, a good arm and good decision making when playing. But the one thing that I loved most when watching his games was how he changed the plays at the line of scrimmage regularly, almost Peyton-like. He has a very short learning curve to deal with in camp and Bulger would be a great guy to teach him the ins and outs of NFL football. He would be a great pick up in my opinion.

ROUND 4 (comp): Nate Irving, MLB, North Carolina State

This kid is a beast and would be able to compete at linebacker for us. With a lot of depth issues we take another LB here who could have starting potential in the future. He has had great production in college and his talent level suggests he is worth a higher pick than this, but injury concerns will bring him down to this spot and we use a compensatory pick at the perfect moment to grab a hit or miss type guy who could be really special for us.

ROUND 5: David Arkin, OG, Missouri State

I know this is late to draft a lineman from what we usually see but it is becoming more and more apparant that we are sticking with the same front five. I asked Jim Wyatt a question about it on one of his chats and he agreed with me. Unless Harris doesn't re-sign it looks like we will stay the same. Arkin is a realistic prospect though who will be a good back up as a rookie. He is very versatile and able to play at multiple positions, which Munchak likes in his o-lineman. He also has good size and would be decent value as he is kind of under the radar at the moment.

ROUND 6: Ricky Elmore, DE, Arizona

This is bye bye Babin with the second defensive end I have taken in this mock draft. Elmore is a guy that will not be an every down defensive end but he will be great on the pass rush and generate sacks. He would be solid value down here in round six and provide depth to a position in which we are in need of just that. Him and Sheard will go into camp looking to make an impression on Rocker.

ROUND 7: Jeff Maehl, WR, Oregon

I like me some Maehl and he would add the type of receiver we need to our offense. He would be able to come up big for us on 3rd down situations and in the red zone and thats the guy we need. He is a typical late receiver pick that the Titans like to make and I would like it to.

ROUND 7 (comp): Allen Bradford, RB, USC

Plain and simple, CJ2K needs a power back to ease the load. Bradford will come in to camp and look to battle with another USC alumni, Stafon Johnson for the 3rd running back position.

    UDFA's we go for:

Mitch Mustain, QB, USC (changed from Taylor Potts) - Another QB to prove himself in camp and maybe make it on to the practice squad.

Alex Wujciak, MLB, Maryland - This guy could make the roster and could be a good contributer and special teams player.

Charlie Gantt, TE, Michigan State - I think this guy could get undrafted and make our roster as the 3rd TE.

Frank Kearse, DT, Alabama AM - An absolute beast with a strong chance of making the roster.

DeJon Gomes, SS, Nebraska - This guy could fall out of the draft and be a good pick up.

I know this is a really unorthodox draft but I thought it would be interesting to see how you would react if something like this went down on draft day. I would be pleased and it addresses a lot of needs on defense and on our offense to for that matter.

    Oooooooff!

No offense but that is the worst draft I think I've seen yet.

I appreciate the effort but damn!

Don't like Fairley at all, his stock is slipping too according to the boys on NFL Network.

I've heard some good things about Shepard, the other DE at Pittsburgh, but top of the 2nd c'mon? Rather have Romeus at the bottom of the 4th and let him sit/heal/learn for a year.

Mason Foster will play ILB in the NFL, but at the top of the 3rd I think he's a little high.

The QB from Idaho in the 4th, I see that guy going in rounds 6-7 or going undrafted.

Many of the rest I haven't heard about so I'll have to look into them.

That's exactly the reaction I was hoping for. It's very unorthadox but a lot of these guys I think will translate well into the NFL. Especially Enderle, watch some more on the guy, he will be good. I think it will make a lot of people say it's bad because were not grabbing Ponder or Dalton. I like these guys though, plus I like Mason Foster as a OLB in the NFL and Sheard is a late first round type prospect so top of the second is decent value.

I tried to watch film on Enderle but from what I recall wasn't able to find much. The film I did see he looked OK, his arm was pretty weak from what I remember.

Foster will play inside in the NFL.

Where did you hear Sheard was a late first round prospect btw, because that's news to me?

A for effort because I can tell you put some time and thought into it. I'm not gonna knock it though. I will knock the Taylor Potts signing though. Dude is trash. Trust me.

We really need to draft a TE somewhere, instead of taking 2 DEs. We have exactly 2 on our roster at the moment. We normally carry 4, but last year had 3.

    A for effort.

    Eh. Not sold on Bulger.
    He's 34.
In the last 2 seasons he played:
    4189 yards, 16 TDs, 19 INT, 11 Fumbles, Roughly 56% comp
    Not impressed.

I also do not LOVE Fairley. He's in every mock going to the Titans, which means it probably won't happen haha. Sheard is alright, Foster is slower than dirt, I actually like him as a MLB more. Idahos QB... lol. Irving is basically Tulloch v2 + 1". I wouldn't be thrilled with this draft, but it's OK at best.

Much of that time he was hurt and didn't have anyone blocking for him. From reports I've heard, he's now 100% healthy and looked great as the #2 in Baltimore last season.

Of course, that isn't a real game so gotta take it with a grain of salt.

But the Titans will have a vet on the roster even if they draft a QB early. It'll be Collins or Bulger or someone else who can provide some leadership and help with the transition to whoever the future franchise QB might be.
