Anyone that depends on statistics to support his/her argument is
Jake Locker has 7 starts as an NFL QB. He's already on his second coordinator, will most likely have his 3rd next year and were seriously saying " ok, here's the problem! " Give me a break. If its week 17 next year we can have the discussion of what the problem is or isn't. This whole team is one giant mess hence our pitiful record. He needs real coaches and experience. It also wouldn't hurt if our receivers all decided to show up for 4 quarters.
you must hate cats
Agreed. And Im not even sold on the guy by a long shot.
Anyone in their right mind knows it takes a few years to judge a QB unless he his HORRIBLE. JL isnt horrible.
Biggest QB busts
Ryan Leaf - 21 total starts
Akili Smith - 17 total starts
Jamarcus Russell - 25 starts
The guy has to improve a lot, but hes only been in 12 games and started 7. And this season, when we was the full time starter, he had no running game, and then the injury.
People think our organization is a joke now? Imagine how we would look if we took at QB high in this draft showing that we give up on Locker.
wtf lol, these anti-Locker threads are a joke. Not because he isn't flawed, but because they make him seem like he's already a finished product. Chill, he's a baby and has less than a full NFL season under his belt.
You know what, in 2015, if he's still playing like this, then let's freak out and call him a bust and how we wasted the 8th overall pick.
In his first 12 games, he has a QB rating of 82, 12 TD's to 7 int's, 55 completion percentage. Not shabby at all actually. And has shown flashes of greatness. And we know he can scramble at the NFL level.
Not amazing, but not bad, and much better than VY his first 12 games.
(BUZZER NOISE) INCORRECT! Not better than VY in first twelve games! Locker couldn't create a game winning drive if he had the sex machine from Se7en creeping up on him.
Its hard to put together a game winning drive when we are getting blown out.
Some of you guys are really showing your patience/knowledge/hypocrisy in this thread. I mean lets be real, if it wasn't CJ and the line taking themselves out of the game, then it was his pass protection and all the dropped balls.
And if it wasn't any of those, it was his injury and his inconsistency at times. WHICH EVERYONE IN HERE KNEW ABOUT AT THE START OF THE SEASON. Yet you still wanted him to come in hell or high water. You knew about the bumps he would have to take as a QB who was not a positively NFL ready.
So the way I see it, Locker has been at most 33% of the problem this season. Not too bad when you account for all mentioned above.
Oh wait, I didn't include the coaching problems either........but that would probably give Locker even more of an excuse and you guys don't want to hear that.
Some of you guys are flat out stupid to be calling for his head right now.
How else do we analyse players performance?
We do have to understand how Locker who had a 99 passing rating in his limited duty last year(66 pass attempts) only has a 77 rating this year.
Simple he is not creating the same yardage as he did last year. Last year he averaged 8.21 yards per pass but this year he is averaging just 6.95. He is simply not getting the ball down field enough to our receivers!
His protection is not allowing him to get the ball deeper down the field on a more consistent basis but let's use the last 4 games to learn and see how he reacts to adversity. His numbers will not likely improve significantly with the injuries to the o-line and now D-will might be out for the year.
