Rams cut Chris Long, James Laurinaitis, Jared Cook

We should definitely try and get Laurinitis in the middle of our defense.

 

Laurinaitis or Long would be great additions. Cook is worthless though...

 

Long wouldn't be a good fit in our defense.

Cook sucks.

Laurinitis is the only one worth a look, but probably wants to go to a contender.

 

We need to get younger and faster on defense, not older and slower. Laurinaitis is just a bigger named Avery Williamson.

The Rams must not have known how to use Cook too....

 

It was the same coach so not surprised.

 

Desperately need veteran leadership though.

His production isn't going to be what it used to be, but his leadership alone can provide real value... he can probably get more out of the younger guys.

Doesn't hurt AT ALL to sign him to a short term deal. He's a ILB. We won't need to break the bank for him.

We've already paid guys like Whiff and JMac ~$8mil a year. Nothing wrong with throwing out a 3 year/$12-15mil deal to Laurinaitis and see if he's interested. Just gotta structure it right (front load it).

Just looked at his old contract... Another classic example of how awful Fisher and co. are. They gave a ILB a 5 year/$41mil contract?!?! That is laughable unless it's going to a guy like Luke Keuchly. Goes right along with the Finnegan/Cook deals. Those were blatantly awful the second they happened. No hindsight needed. Fisher is such a bum. We'd have three rings with a better coach from 99-08.

 

Yes please to Laurinitis!

We could do a whole lot worse than a workhorse like Chris Long as added depth!

These guys shouldn't command big bucks, so they are definitely worth a look.
