"Sony will implement a program to provide global customers will exclusive premium content; free content, 30 day free PS+, current PS+ users will receive 30 days of free service. "

    So what exactly is this?

I heard a rumor PS3 was going to a "must pay" for online access after this. If they do that, bye bye playstation hello xbox. I figured the rumor was totally bs, what company would do that? "Oh we've been hacked and all your personal info was stolen. And once we get up and running again, you have to pay for our crappy service. thanks and have a good day."

The above does make me think there is something to the rumor. Free online play was the whole reason to go PS3 for gaming in the first place (ok, not the whole reason but a good reason).

You think Sony can afford to offer a service like XBL for free? Nope! i expect those 70 million gamers to go down to around 40-50 million when they have to start paying.

First point, ignore anything jesse says. He doesn't have a clue.

Second, there is already a subscription based service called PSN+ that was introduced about 6 months ago, which is basically a fee you pay and you get earlier access to demos, free games, trials etc that normal users don't.
That's about the only extra thing they get. There are no extra features.

btw PSN =/= XBL. The only difference is probably cross game chat.

They already do. Everyone knows XBL is not much different than PSN which is why there is pressure on Microsoft to drop the fees.

    Riiiiigghht.

    And quality of play.

    And users.

    And crazy lag.

And apparently... one has no security.

But yeah, definitely equals. Only to a PS fanboy...

When your comment to the contrary uses users as if there is meant to be some difference between Live and PSN users, it shows you are definitely struggling.
Facts. Use them and get back to me fanboy.

Users are hacked on Live all the time btw.

Oh and by very definition if I defend two consoles, I can't be a fanboy. But funnily enough you have nothing good to say about anything but Microsoft. Poor poor fanboy, they always fail in their own logic.
