Titans got a good one in Morgan

I never had the Titans picking Derrick Morgan in any of my mock drafts.

I never had him, because I didn’t think the defensive end would still be available at No. 16. If I did, I probably would have picked him every time. Even though I can’t lie – I really like Brandon Graham as well.

So too, did the Eagles, who grabbed him at No.13.

But the Titans were fortunate to get Morgan, a first team All-American at Georgia Tech.

Of the top ends picked in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday, he’s considered by many to be the most NFL ready, ahead of Graham, and far ahead of South Florida’s Jason Pierre-Paul.

The Giants made the Titans' decision easy when they selected Pierre-Paul ahead of them at 15. I know some inside Baptist Sports Park really liked Pierre-Paul'spotential, and probably would’ve been lobbying for him.

    But I’m not sold on Pierre-Paul. He’s a heck of a risk.

Morgan is much more of a sure thing. I’ll be surprised if he’s not a starter at some point in 2010, maybe even the season opener vs. Oakland.

Yet every other team probably had him graded as a first rounder. Either you're the world's worst scout, or you don't know ****. No offense.

i'm luke warm on the pick. i wanted graham but he wasn't there. preferably i would have liked to trade down into the mid twenties and got jerry hughes.

morgan has a variety of pass rush moves and uses his hands well, i just don't know if he has the first step we look for.

    in washburn i trust though.

i love the pick i dont get why people are being so negative Morgan is a good combination of run stuffing and pass rushing and has a good size for DE. alot of you guys wanted Graham and JPP instead but those Graham is more of a OLB and under-sized at DE and while JPP might have a world of potential but he only played serious college ball for one season and dosent have the technique that Morgan has imo.

not too mention our 1st round draft picks have panned out well the past few seasons

    Replaces KVB.

He was the best player available. Only one problem now... All of the good corners have been drafted.

Not sure what the hell the Giants were thinking. Their D-line was already pretty solid. Waste of a pick IMO. They should have traded down and taken a LB.

    LOL @ Raiders and Jags.

I love this pick. It could of been alot worse. You have to remember in 85% of draft sites Derrick Morgan was rated the #1 DE. McShay had him as the 9th best prospect and Kiper had him as the 7th best. Morgan is a solid pickup.

I'm left to wonder, what if we traded down... Kyle Wilson didn't go to 29. We could of made a deal and gotten an extra pick. IMO Solid draft so far.
