Hey guys, I've never really used PayPal before and I have a couple of questions. I'm selling a MacBook Pro online, someone e-mailed me and is interested in purchsaing it. My Mac is basically brand new (<6months old) and am selling it near retail. This guy offers me an extra $100 and is in NY (i'm from IL). So after all his expenses (shipping/mac), it's almost like why wouldn't he just buy a brand new Mac? He asked for my paypal email so he can send me the money. Not sure if this is fishy, or i've i'm just paranoid doing online transactions with people directly. If I give him my PayPal and he send me the money, obviously I can get the money into my banking acc't. Is there anyway he can somehow scam me and get his money back? Or, if he claims my mac is broken, will I have to send him the money back? Or anything like that... ?
In the emails he said that he's giving his son the mac for a christmas gift. The son lives in Nigeria... hmmm
You should probably for safe measures transfer the money to your bank account then ship after its cleared. Give him your email address, worst is he never pays you and you never ship the thing. I do similar stuff when I ship things to Brazil.
Welp, I just googled his address and found this: http://www.scamchecker.com/content/sandra-laura-paypal-scam-nigerian hehehe nice try bud!
and this: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/show...3cd2ab4034c995163a337887ae1d07f4#post18197171 with the exact address. almost got scammed!
i'd be cautious... make sure you get the money first in these scenarios... they can very easily delete their account and you'll never hear from them again... also of course they're going to say nigeria or some african country.... there is no way to track them once it's gone..
