Fisher fired Steckle live during an ESPN interview if I remember correctly - well not really, but Fisher fired him while he was still in Tampa interviewing. Yep that seems right

    Same ol Hoge:

"What they’ve done is the first indicator of what happens when you make a mistake with the quarterback you drafted in the first round and he starts to erode your organization,’’ Hoge said. “Norm Chow was not the problem. He did what his quarterback was capable of doing, which is not very much. And it is much easier to fire the offensive coordinator than to get rid of your quarterback."

truth hurts sometimes..the OC is always going to get fired esp when so much money is tied up in the QB

Chow "scored" less than 300 points pre VY. And Chow "scored" less the more he got to know VY.

Although VY is no HoFer - yet. Chow is not even a competent NFL OC, and has had 61 games to prove this.

I think this thing was much more about personalities than the playbook.

More than likely. Chow was always going o be something of a gamble anyway.

No harm done though it could have been handled to let him leave with some dignity. He won't be short of offers from college teams.

Maybe Dinger will pull a Lou Piniella and agree to come only if there are drastic changes made to the personnel on offense...

Or especially when your gameplan never works...

Even worse is when you fail to make adjustments after realizing the plan doesn't work.

Oh, and who needs good receivers and backs? I recall another failure saying something to the effect of, "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time."

Chow's better off coordinating pizza boy assignments. Even then, he probably still couldn't do what it takes to put the pizza's in the right house.

I say let him go back to the college ranks.
