It's only pretentious if you "enjoy" them to feel elitist. I love some of the more avant-garde films, and I also love silly zombie films like Creeps, and I also like certain hollywood blockbusters. I can't tell you how many people called me pretentious because I said I felt No Country For Old Men was a cinematic masterpiece to me, not because I wanted to feel smart but because I simply loved the film.

Everyone should be allowed to enjoy what the want to enjoy without being called pretentious. I'd call your favorite movies fairly pedestrian Gloat (only as in, I would expect many of those to make the average movie goers list). And there's nothing wrong with that; that would mean that their considered quality for a reason.

I personally like to use people's favorites lists to see movies I'm not familiar with (Creeps and Titanbuoy are my go-to favorites in that regard on this site).

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    I 100% Agree. I hated it.

Kill Bill volumes 1- whatever they're all the same

You're insane. They're supposed to be cheesy and over the top. The second one is a masterpiece.

    Pulp Fiction

Greatest movie in film history. You're off your rocker here.

    Star Wars I

No. Just no. It was nominated for best picture in 1977 for a reason (the only SW to be nominated.) It's incredible.

    Shaun of the Dead

    100% agree.

    Juno

    100% agree.

    No Country For Old Men

At least you think it's good. I think it's great though.

    I'm a little confused here
both this post and the OP

there needs to be clarification here

the first Star Wars : A New Hope ( which was Episode IV)
was a great movie and set the bar for Sci-Fi films to come
and was (light) years ahead of it's time

the fourth Star Wars : The Phantom Menace (which was Episode I)
was bad in so many ways and mad a mockery of what the Star Wars universe stood for

Yeah he should have clarified, but I know what he meant. I don't think anyone likes Star Wars Episode I, so I assumed he was talking about IV.

    There Will Be Blood

I appreciate that Day Lewis' act was top notch but it's just not an enjoyable film for me.The character was dark as hell but not enough that the audience hated him or loved him.

It was too flat to get all the praise it got IMO.

I'm not a big Caddyshack fan either.

Agreed, but the ending was hilarious! I straight up laughed out loud in the movie theater. I got some dirty, WTF looks my way. I thought it was hilarious. Good movie, but I agree that it wasn't anywhere near as good as most have made it out to be.
