Nice. Hope it's a better experience than the Hot Chicken Festival I went to a few weeks ago.

Yeah. Oh man, was it ever a cluster****. I think they just had wayyyyyyy more people show up than they were expecting (I read over 12,000).

Here's a quick rundown of how our day went. We got there at 11am. First we waited in a line for "ID Check" where we received wristbands. Then, we waited in the "Beer Coupon" line. Luckily neither of these lines were very big and moved pretty swiftly. Now the fun really began. Now we wait in the actual "Beer Line" where you redeem your coupons for beer. I'd estimate there were 300+ people in front of us. It ends up taking us right at an hour to get our beer.

Now it's on to the actual Hot Chicken. All of the lines seem about the same so we decide to start with Prince's. Yeah, it's another wait of an hour+. Finally we're getting close and about to get our chicken! Or so I thought. Apparently the line is just to order the chicken and they give you a number and you stand around like cattle for another 30-40 mins before you actually get your chicken. Finally, starving, we get our chicken. Scarf it down and get the hell out of there. It's 3:00.

All in all, we were there for 4 hours and literally all we did was stand in lines. And the worst part is we only got to try one place's chicken. Seemed to me the whole point of the thing is to try different chickens. If I just wanted Prince's I would've just gone to Prince's. I can tell you that most people I spoke to/overheard seemed to NOT be having a good time. They're going to have to do something different next year. Be it change of venue or charge admission. Something.

I think the festival just got a little too big for its britches this year. Everyone I talked to who had been in years past said it was nowhere near this bad and was actually a really good time. Something definitely has to change next year. I expect they'll move to a bigger space or charge admission.

They had two freaking beer tents.... for (supposedly) 12,000 people. And virtually everyone of age was drinking.
