Adam Schefter just reported on NFLN. No link. Watching it live. Speculated it's tied to the Mike Vrabel deal. Wonder what the Chiefs are giving up?

Looks like a 2nd round pick (35th overall) and perhaps a conditional pick in 2010. Makes sense, I mean you either draft a guy with 1 year as a starter in college or 1 year as a starter in the NFL. Cassel is more of a sure thing. Plus it frees up their 3rd overall pick to use on Curry or Smith.

If that is all they gave up hats of to the chiefs!!!!!! New England did then just free up 20 million in cap space that they, unlike us, will now use and get themselves even better with Brady back. Cassell good move this is a really bad qb draft year!

Chiefs get Cassel, Vrabel from Patriots (AP)

The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired quarterback Matt Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel from the New England Patriots in a trade for their second-round draft pick. Cassel had been the backup in New England when Tom Brady, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, was injured minutes into last season's opener. Cassel hadn't started a game since high school but helped lead the Patriots to an 11-5 record.

How is Cassel more of a sure thing? He's a system quarterback throwing to guys like Randy Moss and Wes Welker..

Cassel just played an NFL season and we saw he can play no matter who his receivers are or what system he's in.

Sanchez or Stafford have played in 0 NFL games. I think that's pretty self explanatory.

Besides, why can't Polian build the same type of system in KC that he did in New England?

And VY was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in the first season he played (at least most of the season). Cassel having one big year in the Patriot's system doesn't make him better than Sanchez or Stafford, I mean who knows how those guys will develop down the road. There's a reason Cassel was a career backup in college and in the NFL.
