Marc Mariani

No one is kicking away from Mariani..if the Pro-Bowl gave him any type of exposure to the league..it was that he isn't a premier return man and shouldn't be considered a major threat.

 

Heard some commentators say during one of the games that the league wanted something like 60% returns versus 40% touchbacks, that's their ideal scenario. What are we seeing now? 20% returns versus 80% touchbacks? They've got to tweak the new rule at some point. As it is now, the game isn't nearly as dynamic.

 

will probably change a little when the weather drops, but I agree tweeking is necessary. Severe tweeking all the way back too the way it was before they tweeked it.

 

Mariani was one of the best punt return men in the league last year. He averaged over 12 yards a punt which is 70% better than the league average and he had an 87 yard TD and 3 more returns that went over 20 yards.


I guess it is asking too much for some people to have a memory or to take 2 seconds to look up what he did last year. This year he is struggling but all it takes is one long one to change things.

To say that D-will is better than anybody at anything this year is a laugh. When he shows up as a WR we can talk about him.

As for the nfl kick off rule? Idiotic. If they seriously want to keep that rule they should eliminate the touch back rule and force guys to return every ball in play.

Errr... I think that would miss the whole point of the rule change to start with: Fewer returns.

 

Good point actually. Based on Cj's performance this year maybe we should release him and bring back Stafon Johnson. Hey Stafon had a better preseason! That's Coltkiller's logic with Mariani.

People have no patience. They always think that some other player is better than the ones we have.

 

Let me guess that since he made a decent return today, he is still the MAN?
