It's been a while since two QB's went No.1 and No.2 overall. The last time it happened was 1999 when Tim Couch and Donovan McNabb were the first two picks. There's a lot of articles on this, but they all talk about how great Andrew Luck will be, and none I've found really compare Luck to Couch and Griffin to McNabb. They all seem to just point out that two QB's taken hasn't happened in a while, and this will be the first time since 99 for it to happen. While neither Couch or McNabb won Super Bowls or MVP's, they both had great scouting reports going into the draft just like Luck & Griffin do now. I think the best thing Couch ever really did was being a Heisman Trophy finalist, while McNabb made it to five NFC title games and a Super Bowl. My question to you is, does Luck compare to Couch at all? Also, what about Griffin reminds you of McNabb?
Could easily see that. I'm sorry, but Luck is weak. I don't see what everyone else does. His short passes wobble, has no velocity, accuracy is ok while dinking and dunking... good mobility. Very smart... but there have been 2,000 QBs that look like Luck coming out of college and they get passed over and undrafted... why this guy? Had Jim Harbaugh not coached at Stanford, I'd be willing to bet he'd go undrafted. Griffin on the other hand, does everything better than Luck and is only getting passed over for one reason. Still a stigma... I wont make the comparison so much between McNabb or Couch. But I could see similar careers.
many are calling Andrew Luck the next John Elway, so I wonder how mad Mike Shanahan is that he's going to miss out on the closest thing to John Elway by 1 draft spot. If not for Elway, Shanahan has no job today. Guys still living off 1997.
From Peter King... Link to the video. Looks like a live arm to me. I know we get tired of the four letter network hype machine, but NFL scouts do their homework. If he wasn't the real deal, he wouldn't be going #1 with a bullet. I'd like him to suck as much as the next Titans fan, as he'll be a Colt, but I'm afraid we might be in for Manning 2.0.
Oh is that so? I wonder why they hyped up Matt Leinart, Jimmy Clausen, Jamarcus Russel, Vince Young, Mark Sanchez, etc then?... Because I knew every one of them would suck before they did. ESPN's "scouts" (lol) are a complete joke. Watch his game tape. His passes are weak and hardly impressive. I don't care what he did in his back yard.
Did anyone else hear Luck say his favorite play is a pass to the FB? As a former FB myself, that's MY favorite play LOL. Didn't expect to hear that from Andrew Luck.
He's going to be one of those QBs that solely depend on his OC to whether he's good or sucks. If he gets an OC that will dink/dunk and not try throwing down field a lot, he may be ok. He could be Dalton'esque... but I think that's his ceiling.
You can bet that the Titans will be getting burned by Andrew Luck for a long time. However, I believe the Titans can contribute to making Luck's transition to the NFL a hard one. This is why D-line has to be our top priority.
