No we don't. A lot of teams have had assistant head coaches, and that's what I consider Williams to be.

If Munchak is fired mid-season, Williams takes over as interim head coach.

This soon after the bounty thing?

And I have been on teams in the past where the defensive coordinator had a huge influence on the team, we'd even sometimes go around the HC to the DC. Im curious how much of that goes on in the pros.

I think Munch has the final call on everything but totally trusts Williams.

I also think the old structure of how teams are coached has evolved and roles are not as cut-and-dry as they once were. We have an OC who probably will still work a lot with Locker since he was the QB coach. Munch is back working more with the OL since there are a lot of personnel changes there. Williams & Gray's role is still unclear to me but it's looking like the defense is Williams so Gray may do more with the DBs.

The encouraging thing is that these moves should put better qualified coaches in position to make the team better overall.

Hopefully Williams will bring some brass stones to counteract the sissy play calling of Gray.

I think its clear from the article that Mr Williams couldnt just come directly into the league from that whole bounty thing as a normal DCord. Plus we are talking about OTAs and early season stuff now.
