If you look at Eric Dickseron's track record you'll get an idea of what to expect.

    Yds-carries
    1808-390
    2105-379
    1234-292
    1821-404
    1288-283
    1659-388
    1311-314
    677-166
    536-167
    729-187
    91-26

    Chris Johnson
    2006-358
    1228-251

He probably has a 2-3 year window to get this done in my opinion. It's gonna take 400 carries and like someone said, a bit of luck, no injuries, and a lot of carries.

Some players keep their speed over their entire career. Others lose it. There is no set rule. Someone like Deion and Daryl Green were still fast at 40 years old. Others wear down dramatically. But remember, no more astroturf. So you may find that running backs last a lot longer. Don't know. But we'll just have to wait and see. If Dickerson is any indication though, he will be in the ball park for a few years if healthy.

By the way, Erick Dickerson's record was gained against the Houston Oilers.

I would much rather see this happen. Cut him back about 70-80 carries, flirt with 1500-1600, and add in maybe 15-20 rec to keep teams even more off-balance. I mean even alittle over a carry per quarter can accomplish that. I wouldn't complain over seeing Ringer, or whoever it is going to be, on the stat sheet at the end of the night with 4-5 carries for 20 yards or so each week.

I agree with you on the relying on one player. It makes me think, the fact LD got virtually no play time, he was destined to be a casualty at the end of the season.

I think it's funny people try to plan his future production.

    I believe he'll cross 2,000 again.

It could happen. Tire on his wheels might fall off after though. He'd need around 400 or so carries most likely in the future, and that is a ton.

Dickersons record will be forgotten if CJ can become to first RB to have 2,000 yards seasons back to back. I say try and get Cj 2,000 next season then take it easy on him. he could hold that record forever imo.

Alot of you seem to forget that CJ is a breakaway TD waiting to happen. He may not need a ton of carries to get his mega yards....sometimes he makes his own mega yards.

I only wish he'd run the outside a bit more.....he's always lookin for the gut-hole but hey...guess I can't fault a guy who just ran for a 2k season his 2nd freaking year.

He will do it as many more times as the other guys did it. Never.

I love how casual some posters are about a back gaining 2000. Nobody ever did it twice!

Same reason people have a hard on for Fisher or others that aren't the flavor of the day. To much posting from the heart rather than the brain. :wink2:
