I am still confused by Ayers as well because he is supposed to be a rush Lber, but usually the strong side Lber comes off the field in nickel packages. So unless you are planning on taking a DT out in the nickel package where does that leave Ayers. Here is a great interview with Saban talking about his guys. I would love to grab Hightower because he is a player. Then have McCarthy and Hightower as our 2 inside Lbers.
I thought that was interesting as well. Of course Saban is going to say good things about his guys, but to say that Menzie is better than the other recent bama CBs is high praise.
I'm not too sure about that. Mayock was just talking about him on NFL Network, I guess he ran a 4.72 at the combine, yikes! Too slow for me.
I'll rewind the DVR a little later but I think Mayock said they hand timed him at 4.6. Sorry but that is too slow to play corner in the NFL. Safety perhaps but not corner. But you're right, he is a good football player that'll go a long way.
I actually read somewhere that Kirkpatrick may now be a FS. I guess after the combine you see a lot more position changes.
Also combines are nice but I never pay attention to them. I rather watch the film and see how well they actually do on the field, I'm not just defending Menzie but pretty much everyone that wasn't a "combine warrior".
