Forget the cold weather Superbowl, and all the BS regarding salary cap's increasing per teams and the shifting of the Pro Bowl Games....Football is at an ALL TIME HIGH across the world at the moment, and fans want to see their team in the playoffs come January, not to lose out by a small tie breaker after Week 17 concludes....THIS NEW SYSTEM WOULD NOT ONLY ENHANCE THE "PLAY-OFF FORMAT" BUT NOW GIVE EACH TEAM A SHOT IN EACH CONFERENCE OF HAVING ANOTHER CHANCE AT THE POST-SEASON, AND REALLY GIVE THE FANS A MORE EXCITING ELEMENT.....

This is the "new" NFL Playoff Format:

    1. ONLY THE #1 SEED's OF EACH CONFERENCE GET A "BYE."

    2. SEVEN (7) TEAMS FROM EACH CONFERENCE MAKE THE POST-SEASON.

    3. #2 and #7 SEEDS OF EACH CONFERENCE PLAY EACH OTHER, WITH (2) TEAMS PLAYING ON MONDAY NIGHT AS A BONUS TO (MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL) ON ESPN.

    4. THE (2) TEAMS OUT OF THE #2 & #7 SEEDS WITH BEST WINNING RECORDS PLAY ON MONDAY NIGHT. IF RECORDS TIE, HEAD TO HEAD, FOLLOWED BY OPPOSITE CONFERENCE RECORD OF ALL 4 TEAMS.

Here would be the (TELEVISION LINE-UPS) for WILD-CARD WEEKEND as an example:

    SATURDAY - 1:00PM (CBS) SATURDAY - 4:00PM (FOX)
AFC WILD-CARD GAME NFC WILD-CARD GAME
    #4 VS #5 SEEDS #4 VS #5 SEEDS

    SATURDAY - 8:00PM (NBC Primetime) SUNDAY - 12:30PM (FOX)
AFC WILD-CARD GAME NFC WILD-CARD GAME
    #3 VS #6 SEEDS #3 VS #6 SEEDS

SUNDAY - 4:30PM (FOX) **MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL - 8:30PM (ESPN)
NFC WILD-CARD GAME AFC WILD-CARD GAME
    #2 VS #7 SEEDS #2 VS #7 SEEDS

**NBC ROTATES AFC/NFC WILD-CARD ROUND GAMES EVERY YEAR BETWEEN CBS & FOX, BASED ON
WHICH EVER NETWORK HOSTS THE SUPERBOWL**

Sorry, made a little mistake on the Monday Night Format in this example...should say AFC WILD CARD GAME, (NOT) NFC....

TitanGeoff's refusal to go back to the 50-post-thread-starting-minimum is quite strange... Quite strange indeed...

Is this before or after the Euro and American divisions are added?

Adding more teams to the playoffs would be a mistake. Its bad enough when .500 teams qualify, dont need a bunch of average teams diluting what the posts season is all about.

    Why are you yelling?

I wouldn't mind seeing more teams, just so #1/#2 don't have byes. However, seeing sub .500 teams in the playoffs really bug me. Leave it how it is, if anything -- take away 2 preseason games and add one more regular season game. Extend the season by a week.

Then, get rid of ties. That's just stupid.

Finally, let them play football. Quit making them play like little girls and let them crush each other. It's football, players know this going into it.
