As one of the few who listen to the game on the radio I'm sad to see Wycheck get replaced. In the relatively short "Titans" history, Wycheck ranks up there among my favorites so it also sucks to read he's still having regular issues with concussion well after his playing days are done.

Don't really understand the medical side of how he keeps getting concussions, but the article brings up the migraines issues and how it caused him to miss a game call last year.

15-25 concussions? Didn't realize he had that many. After 4 or 5 it's probably a good idea to get out, but as many as 25?! That's unfortunate

I know there's not really any way to avoid the concussions but curious if he just genetically is somehow more susceptible than other players. Same for the post career migraines or concussions.

Concussions are avoidable to a degree

You can't use your head as a battering ram tho. Would be hard to avoid playing at the LoS, but 25?! His playing style was definitely more prone to concussions

I remember him missing a few games due to concussion. I also remember him playing in games he had his clock cleaned. The NFL settlement for CTE is ridiculously cheap. They should have graded pay based off of tenure and ALL medical expenses should be funded by the NFL.

You played that way back then. You can't go over the middle effectively looking to dodge heavy hits. You know that.

There are different intensities of concussion... very mild to dramatic.

Multiple "very mild" add up, though.

Soccer players arguably receive more concussions... but they're mild, so not considered a big deal.

Yes- it's a risk when flop and flail around on the ground after somebody steps on their foot.

I saw 25 as a high number too. With all the recent CTE research, I figure we still have very limited info on how things have changed since those brains that were examined played. Equipment and rules to the game have changed even since Wycheck played but I have to look into some sort of genetic thing that maybe made him more susceptible.

That part would be hard to avoid for sure but what could be controlled is the way they block. Guys who lead with the crown of the helmet are just asking for trouble
